how high of a fever warrants trip to er??

Have had a sore throat all day recently got the chills. Just took my temp and its 101.7. Took tylenol so waiting for it to kick in now. But if it doesnt help am i supposed to go in or try something else?? I don't want to sit at the ER all night so they can give me tylenol and send me home.

Nope. If it gets around 102.5, that's when I would head in. Anything below that is kind of 'suck it up' fever. Lay in bed, take medicine, etc. If it does not get better with meds, then call the doctor, OR call the hospital to talk with a nurse.

I was told that we don't want out body temp to go above 101, so I'd recommend going in to the er.we can sweat to get our core temp down, but baby can't. imes at higher temps can cause issues for baby.

Go in 101 is considered a fever in pregnant women.
