I can't believe some of the thing that people tell pregnant women they can't do.   Some of it is so stupid. I'm pregnant not a vegetable. I'm perfectly capable of doing everything I did before getting pregnant. Like the craziest thing I've heard is if pregnant women eat lunch meat it'll give you and the baby cancer? And not aloud to  use nail polish.

If you wash your hands and make sure the surface you are using is clean then you can still eat deli meats.

I was told to heat up lunch meat to kill the bacteria. But I lived off of sand which meat when my husband and I lived on our own that I just don't want to eat it anymore. So I don't buy or eat it.

No it CAN have listeria and too MUCH of it can cause comolications. An average portion though is not risky. If the not allowed to wear nail polish is in reference to the previous post about labor, I asked the nurse in delivery and she said some polishes can block the reader they put on womens fingers so its helpful to not have it but not a big deal if women do wear polish. Most of the things they say women cant do while pregnant is bc one person some time in history went overboard and so doctors cover their butts by just restricting everything. Pregnancy is nothing new at all, and none of us here are pioneers in the matter. Its not hard to be pregnant with common sense but society today has us all worried about complications that it throws our already over-alert mommy senses into overdrive snd with ready access to a place to spill this knowledge or experience we should expect different views and outcomes.

Lunch meat doesn't contain listeria... It CAN be contaminated with listeria, but its not guaranteed... They usually recommend that you heat lunch meat until steaming just in case there is bacteria. If you contract listeria while pregnant it can cause major problems in your pregnancy and even the possibility of miscarriage/fetal demise... As for nail polish you can wear polish, but if you go to a salon just make sure you're in a ventilated area.

I've had plenty of lunch meat, most of the time warmed up, and my baby boy and myself are perfectly healthy. The nail polish thing i have no idea about, but I'm wearing it! I agree, some of the things people say are ridiculous, i can still carry in groceries without dying guys.. lol. Oh and also the no seafood thing?! I've heard its healthy to eat some but not over do it. The fish has vitamins in it!

My doctor told me if I wanted fish then go for it. But I don't go all out. And like I said before I am sick of lunch meat. I don't eat raw but the smell makes me sick and even if not pregnant raw still isn't good. The nail polish I never heard of.

Lunch meat does carry Listeria witch causes miscarriages and stillbirth. Where im at the had a listeria outbreak in fruit so I couldn't eat any fruit from Pacific stores for over a month. Nail polish is fine as long as its put on in a ventilated area like your not sniffing it or anything lol

Lol lunch meat won't give you cancer. If that were true everyone would have cancer from a sandwich even if not pregnant.

Ladybeelwe shouldn't believe everything we hear or read.my sister works in labor and delivery so I'm pretty sure she knows a thing or to. That's where I get all my information to help girls on here. I've eaten lunch meat with every pregnancy and my kids are fine. They don't have cancer from me eating it.

Your baby won't die. Don't let people fool you. You can eat it, just not constantly. Your baby will be perfectly happy & healthy (:

I never said it causes those problems. I actually said doctors go overboard with what we can and cant do while pregnant. I dont believe everything I hear or read but since I have a neurosurgeon for a mother and asked my nurse while in labor with my daughter about why I heard we cant nailpolish I passed along that in fact we can it can just mess up the thing they put on our finger. I sure as poo dont believe lunch meat in general is a threat but he best thing to do is be smart and aware of outbreaks in our areas :)

I can't stand subway anymore. Plus most of the 5 dollar foot longs are pretty much gone.

If you research it, cold deli meats is right up there with raw sushi on every dont consume list i've seen. Ive always just known to heat it up and i do because i love deli sandwiches. It's not that you will get listeria, it's more or less there's a chance of it. Just like say smoking. Your baby wont necessarily have problems but it's a risk(i'm not comparing them. Smoking while pregnant is not something i promote). The nail polish i've read about because many can contain formaldahyde and 2 other bad ingredients. Theres 3 brands i read that were safe. I know one was opi. But i'm sure the nail polish thing is less of a threat, but i have researched both and they are legitimate. Especially the deli meats. My dr said heat it up but every dr is different.
