I couldn't. My contractions felt like a lot of pressure in my vagina. it hurt like hell. Relax and Relax! I was tense up getting the epidural, that made it hurt more. But once I relaxed it was so easy. After i got the epidural,  I felt great. I was laughing and talking. I think as long as your cervix is soft you should have a problem with dilating. I came in a 0 cm.
I was nervous about getting induce because I heard so many negative stories. I prayed right before input started. I was scared. My labor was perfect in the end. Do not allow others negative experiences to make you feel that you will have a awful labor. Go in with a positive attitude. you will be just fine.

Oh wow your labor sounded a lot better than the others I've heard. I guess it really does just depend on the person. Is there any advice you'd like to give? Or tips? Do you think you could of done it without the epdiural? Not judging you, just asking.. I'm curious myself. And the pain medicine offered, is there only a certain amount of times you can receive? And did it help you any? @Cstone

I was induced today. I arrived at the hospital at 4:15 a.m. My induction started at 5 a.m. I had a great experience. I started drink red raspberry leaf tea around 30 weeks, so upon arrival to the hospital, I was 90% effaced. I started the pitocin at 6 a.m, the contractions started 40 minutes after that. I received the pain medicine in my IV. It was nice to get a little relief. I received the epidural at 4 cm. Within 2 hours in was 10 cm. I never felt the urge to push. I felt pressure. I had to wait until the doctor arrived almost an hour later! I pushed for an hour. It was the hardest part of labor. I had 2nd degree tearing.  My son is 6 lbs 15 oz. He is the love of my life. I'm not sure if the red raspberry leaf tea worked but I was only in labor for 5 hours

They do have alternatives, but I believe it goes into your iv and only lasts 45 mins, which u can only get once. That is crazy about your aunt and I can see y you would be scared. I was in labor for 8/9 hours before epi and by the time u do get it, you are just very desperate for some relief. It doesn't hurt, especially compared to the contractions you are having. Try not to think about it. It take about 5 mins to get it and once he puts the needle in and takes it out, you're golden. I hate needles and I told myself not to look at anything while they were in my room. But after he gave it, I was like really? That's it?

I want to keep an epidural in mind but unfortunately my aunt had an epidural with her last child and the person doing it had struck the wrong part in my aunts back and then proceeded to try again and messed up. My aunts now paralyzed and has no feeling from the wasit down. I know it's a freak accident and like one in a million chance. But I'm still freaked out and nervous for that. I know they have alternative pain meds. I know i will be okay if the labor isn't too long but over 10 hours i just might loose it. I have anxiety real bad so I'm hoping i don't tense up and freak out :/

They say ftms normally have their baby within 12 hours. I had mine in 10. And I truly believe it was because after being so tensed up during contractions I wasn't progressing, the epi made me relax and made things go by quicker. Plus I felt awesome after I got it compared to what I was feeling lol

I was very nervous,  but try not to stress. And you can do all natural, don't think you cant! I would just keep an open mind. I was so desperately set on it and when I gave in I was disappointed in myself for no reason! Having an epi doesn't mean you are not strong enough. I would wait as long as possible though, seemed to make mine go by faster. I also have a high pain tolerance,  but labor is a different kind of pain lol. You can do it! Your baby will be here soon enough! And that makes it all worth it. Best of luck!

Omg, i seriously planned on having her within hours. I'm getting induced on Monday. I'm dilated to 2 and 100% effaced. I wanted to do this entirely natural but I really don't know if I have the power to be in labor for over a day... I have a high pain tolerance, but labor is completely different. Ftm and so nervous. I go in at 7am. I was hoping to have her by that afternoon :/ that's so scary. I really hope everything goes smoothly. I'm very nervous about having to get a c section.... I'm basically nervous about everything. :/

I went in at 7:30 am. Got pitocin,  Water broke at 9:15 and had baby at 8:37 pm. I also heard that, but I asked my doctor and mom's that had both and they said contractions weren't more painful being induced. It did cause my baby to be a little stressed because you are forcing your body to go into labor, so I had to be hooked up to a monitor the entire time.
