You can loose your mucus plug over time, or all at once. Labor can be anywhere from a few hours to a few days or even weeks away. I've been loosing my plug for the past 2 weeks, and I started having mild, inconsistent contractions then too. The dr said this could go on for awhile. But some ladies loose their plug then have a baby a few hours later. It depends on the person.
