let's try again...

Inducing.... What am I going to expect??? I'm getting induced Saturday. What precautions should I look at.

Can I eat? Drink... Be the same normal self I am.. Or should I mentally prepare myself for what's going to happen...

Sorry, first time mommy... And I'm feeling soooooo many emotions.

It may be the same thing. If they tell u they are going to put it inside of u the fill them ask them to use the tool they use for pap smears. Trust me my doctors tried 3 times with their fingers and it was extremely painful!! && I went through most of my labor without pain meds and didn't even know I was in labor cause they kept telling me I wasnt so I can handle pain. But putting that thing in was terrible until they used the tool. ( idk what the name of it is)

I had to be induced with my first child because she was overdue. They put the string in for me i dont remember what its called. The contractions started almost immediately and were really bad and very close together (not even 1 min apart)After a few hours i wanted the epidural. Right after the epidural was in i realxed and didn't feel the contractions anymore. But my water broke while they were still starting the meds and shortly after that i had to push. I felt every push and felt my girl come out. Had to get a lot of stitches later on. THe epidural was awesome but i do hope to go into labor naturally this time.

That's not what my doc said... They like... Put a string of some sort up.... There.

Is that the balloon?????? Uh ooh. And the reason I asked about a bra.. Is.. Well, I hate not wearing one. Ahaha. But, what... All I can do is ask.. Right?

I know they had me take everything off for legal reasons in case they had to do random surgery or if i had problems with my heart. Its just something my hospital does with all ob patients in labor. I hated that though lol. As for the inducing, all the women i know that have been induced said it wasn't noticeably more painful. Good luck!!!

Do not let them use the balloons is all I have to say! (The balloons are another way to induce they put one in ur cervix and one in ur vagina then fill them with saline. )Putting them in was worse then contractions to me. BUT I would do it all over again for my son!

I was curious about this so I asked my mom the other day since she was induced for my last sister (3 years ago) & she said she didn't eat after a certain time so she got admitted to hospital at 5am so she didn't eat after 9pm she said she did this so that she knows she wouldn't have a bowel movement while the baby was coming.

I was induced on the 7th and honestly I came in for my regular 37 week exam and the doctor told me he found too much protein in my urine and I had to be induced that day. I was pretty calm and chill the entire time. They first checked to see if I was dialated and I wasn't at all. So they put pills near my cervix to soften it they did it every 4 hours. Then after 12 hours they started the pitocin. My baby was monitored the entire time. I couldn't feel my contractions and at 10am the doctor broke my water about an hour after that I'm not trying to scare you but my contractions got so intense I was shaking violently from the pain and crying for an epidural. After the epidural I felt amazing it didn't even hurt when they put it in compared to contractions lol. I was at 2 centimeters for hours and wouldn't dialate then after the epidural at around 2 pm I went to a 4 then stayed at a 4 until 4 pm then quickly started dialating.  My epidural wore off when I was at 8 centimeters around 6pm then at 640 I was a 10 and in excruciating pain I kept asking the nurse to check me and when she did she said it was time to push. So after an hour of pushing my baby was born!! Honestly the epidural was a lifesaver don't be scared to get it it'll help you relax and hopefully dialate faster. I also barely tore the nurse kept putting lube around my vagina and my babys head. Good luck! !! I actually would go through labor many more times it's such an amazing experience

I was told to eat before I came in because you can't eat once you get started. You can drink though. I would just be yourself because it doesn't start all at once and you want to be calm, until it starts getting bad of course. I don't know if contractions are worse or not because I've only ever been induced and never went into labor on my own, but they are going to hurt either way and you won't know if it's worse or not so don't worry about that.

My inductions both went well without any complications. With my first, I was induced at 8am, got an epidural at 2pm when I was about 5-6 dilated, started feeling the contractions come back around 4:30pm because my hospital has it so you still feel the end contractions, started pushing at 5:00pm and delivered at 6:01pm. When pushing, they will tell you not to scream/breathe out/talk, and you should listen because when you hold your breath and push, it is a much better push than when you don't. It took me a while to start listening but I progressed a lot farther when I did.

I would say go in there as confident as you can be and deal with each problem as it shows up if any, instead of trying to prepare yourself for the unknown. And just remember, the worse it gets, the closer your baby is to finally being out. Good luck!

If my baby doesn't turn i have to be induced. I'm hoping it goes smoothly but it's nice reading what all everything says.

Does getting induced hurt?? I heard contractions are worse this way... Because its basically forcing my body to dilate....

I'm not dilated whatsoever... But I'm thinned out... :( does that count?
