lifting

I'm 21yrs old and 9 weeks pregnant. I work for an airline and sometimes lift 50lbs bags at check in. I've heard lifting heavy weight can be bad and lead to miscarriages. However I've also heard that because I have done this job for the past 2 years I should be fine because my body has adapted to it. I told management and they said the only thing they could do is congratulate me...opinions please :)

Even after my doctor okayed the 45 lb weight limit for me I carried a box that was "less than 30 lbs" and started spotting at 28 weeks. After that I didn't care what my doctor said and my coworkers even told me I wasnt  allowed over 15

When I found out I was pregnant, I worked at an Auto Parts store. For my job I had a 50 lb weight requirement to even work there. When I asked my doctor after I found out I was pregnant, she told me its fine to keep doing what you did before you got pregnant...at least in the first tri. But, I had to quit because I wasn't going to chance it

thanks ladies, its just frustrating how my co-workers know I ask for help and they give me attitude in return and tell me their bags are heavy as it is, its a few that are willing to give me a hand. Management has the ability to make me board planes instead of carrying bags but seems like they are doing it on purpose placing me at bag drop because seems like thats were they place me more after I told them the newd.

My doctor gave me a 45 lb weight limit since I had been doing heavy lifting before pregnancy and was used to it. Ask your.doctor first though

Honestly they probably won't do a anything to help u. My work won't they wont even if u have something from a Dr. They don't care. I work as a can at a nursing home. And the they say well we are a no lift facility even tho I'm rolling some big fatties that **** help and they push back at ur. I try to get help when I'm dealing with one of those they of people. Most people are more than willing to help a pregnant woman. Did u work side by side with someone else. Can u guys can lift heavy stuff together. That's the only thing I can think of. If they work with then fantastic.

I work at a grocery store, I receive packages, and my doctor told me not to lift anything heavier than 20 lbs. I would suggest you get a letter from your doctor saying that you are pregnant and that you can't lift anything more than 20 pounds, because you are pregnant.  They should arrange your job duties, and respect that.  Maybe they would transfer you to another department, are you currently paying disability insurance? there is a law and they should respect that!
Good Luck!

My doctor told me no heavily lifting what so ever, even if I was doing it before I got prego. I had to even change my work out routine so that I was not lifting nearly as much as I was prepregnancy. I would not risk it honestly, but I know how important it is to have job too.
