I'm 38weeks tomorrow.... membrane sweep is something the dr/midwife does to separate the amniotic sac from the cervix, in hopes that the hormone that is released at that time will kick-start labour. Some Drs/midwives won't do it until 39/40weeks, & you have to be dialated a little already.

Oh I really don't know, but give it a try. I actually didn't ask, my Dr. Told me he'll have my other Dr. do one at my next appointment after I asked to be induced (sorta jokingly). I think he suggested it because I had a history of high bp & was concerned saying during your last few weeks your bp goes back to it's normal  (which would mean pre-eclampsia)

You have to be at least 2 cm dilated in order for your ob to do a sweep

I'll be 37+4 tomorrow at my doctors appointment.  If I ask for one do you think my doctor will give me once since I have been having really bad back pain and I'm 50% thinned out and half a centimeter dilated

I'm getting one Wednesday, & will be 38weeks on Thursday. But I heard some saying Dr.s won't entertain the idea until around 39weeks
