Is there anything I can do to prevent a miscarriage I can't seem to hold a baby past 7 weeks. I lost my second one yesterday. I feel like all hope is lost.

Hello, I am so sorry for your loss. I have been through 2 m/cs and am currently 12 weeks in my 3rd pregnancy. After the second, I decided to seek a fertility specialist that was actually part of my OB/GYNs practice. She ran a ton of bloodwork on me and found a couple of issues. The biggest was that I have a blood clotting disorder called MTHFR. Basically, it's a genetic issue where a gene from both my mother & father's sides were not so good. Anyway, after that, she assisted me in getting pregnanct again rather quickly with Clomid. She monitored my HCG and Progesterone levels closely and found that my progesterone was dropping in week 5 or 6, so she immediately put me on supplements. Then, I found that my thyroid levels also went downhill and went on thyroid meds. On top of all that, I have to take baby aspiring and special prenatals with extra folate because of the blood clotting issue.
Overall, I would say, see if you doc will check you for things like that now rather than later.  I hate that doctors make you wait until you've been through the hell of m/c more than 2x's before they will do any testing.
I wish you the best of luck!!!

wow brave of you to be considering that already! i understand how you feel completely. it depends on your doctor but our doctor gave us progesterone pills once i became pregnant with our fourth pregnancy. (which took over a year to achieve)  it all depends on your doctor though. discuss it with them and see what they'd like to try, i'm sure there are other options out there as well. i know our doctor had to wait until we had two in a row to do anything and after three in a row would have to send us to a specialist.
its usually nothing you're doing wrong and you usually can't do anything to prevent it, i'm sorry. you just have to stay positive and hope for the best.
so sorry for your loss
