miscarriage

I fell down the steps like 10 min. ago, I busted my back but my stomach hit a railing... I know I'm now at risk for a miscarriage but I am soooooo worried that my child is now at risk for brain damage... can someone tell me if this is true. I tried looking it up but didn't find anything.

OMGoodness!  I am so very, very sorry for your loss.  I know that doesn't ease the pain, but I just wanted to tell you this.  When I first came across this post (just today), I totally expected the outcome to not be this.  I am so very sorry.  We are all here if you need to talk.

I had stayed away for awhile because I didn't want to think about it but its been long enough I just wanted to let you know that I did in fact have a miscarriage and due to the occurance right after the fall and no other issues my doctor believes it is due to the fall I took. So in the future you don't have to be popping out to not have a miscarriage from a fall although more likely to happen at that stage of the game it can happen at anytime. wish you and your family well.

Erp- sorry about the delayed response. I had typed this in about 17 minutes ago and didn't notice that I didn't hit "enter" until just now so I'm a bit tardy on my suggestion...but it still applies. Have a great day everyone.

I think that emotions are high and everyone is getting upset so now would be a good time to walk away and take a breather.

One more thing.... The way i "wrote" it wasnt with a rude tone...

...." it COULD happen"......  meant "rarely happens" and probably DIDNT happen to you.

And im not speaking like a "teen"..... Just the way that i wouldve said it to any other person.

Like i said your baby is most likely fine, and I suggest getting "Week by week pregnancy" book. It honestly has good information and should be any expecting moms go-to... Sorry if i pushed your button, didnt mean it, Im not up for argueing, and i also dont have to defend my innocence either. Good Luck with your pregnancy... Im sure all is well.

Yes if you know what a placenta does. I appreciate the information provided it’s the way you present it. and honestly I’ve been on medhelp and assist in the STD forums so I know what it can be like in regards to OCD of a topic... BUT I just had an upset that I've never had so the way you pose your information "Okay, I just told you what COULD happen if it was a strong enough force"  ect. You’re speaking like a teenager.

If your going to assist people on this forum than you need to consider being gentle given the fact that although losing a baby may not mean anything to you it may mean a lot to others; those who are trying to have a child. And asking questions doesn't always warrant someone like you saying go see your obgyn for comfort. Sure I could google all day long but it is much easier to post where I know I can get an answer right away. If I wanted to know the entire body I'd become a doctor not a manager.

Theres no need for any more reply i know what I need to know and I don't want to go back and forth on your rudeness

Honestly your baby is probably just fine! You can always look up what ruptured placenta means. Not too difficult. I wasnt rude- i just state things as i know. I dont try to either play-down something or play-up something either. Just how i know it is how i say it. Sorry if it didnt seem nice enough for you. At least i explained my self.

Realistically speaking asking questions about your babys well being wont really put your mind at ease.

And yes IF you were in pain/cramps then a visit with the doctor would be needed.

Also a "ruptured" placenta is pretty much self explainitory.

OK CHILL  you only said "What you MIGHT be at risk for is a ruptured placenta if you hurt yourself badly. By Badly i mean your having cramps and in pain. If not i think it still wouldnt hurt to get a heartbeat check and possibly a sono just for peace of mind. "

You didn't state that the baby couldn't get food or that I would bleed. I already had every intention on seeing my doctor but I do work so I wouldn't be able to until after work or tomorrow at the latest so the more info the better I feel and the more knowledgable I am.

Thanks for the info and try to be more patient or don't answer quesitons on this forum.

Okay, i just told you what COULD happen if it was a strong enough force, like a baseball bat.

Ruptured placenta, you start bleeding= baby gets no food= dies. Sad i know. But realistically speaking that is all that could go wrong.... you are ONLY 11 wk. If you were 7 month and hit your stomache it would be a problem. Just be careful. And get checked, unfortunatly nothing i say or tell you will put your mind at ease. See an ob.

I was in a car accident when I was pregnant and was hurt pretty badly, but the baby was just fine.  They are pretty well cushioned in there, but if you are really worried tell your doc you want an ultrasound to make sure everything is all right.  They will probably do that.

going on 11 weeks... I sliped on a bag that I was carrying.. the handle and had too much in my hands hit the railing first but couldn't grab anything and went down from there. Not having any symptoms yet but scared.

how would I have ruptured the placenta?

Your stomache hit a railing? If you are about 12 wks, you shouldnt worry about he stomache getting hurt BC uterus isnt out of pelvis yet. What you MIGHT be at risk for is a ruptured placenta if you hurt yourself badly. By Badly i mean your having cramps and in pain. If not i think it still wouldnt hurt to get a heartbeat check and possibly a sono just for peace of mind.
