Im african american there are a such thing as american muslims you know smh she also asked for "muslim mummies" advice me as a muslim mom i will advise my muslim sister if she needs it out of love for the sake of allah
I'm American however my fiancé is Muslim (Bosnian). His sister wants to throw me a baby shower. You should do what you like.
Thats like saying we should celebrate birthdays its haraam as well obviously yall not salifi muslims so i wont waste my time but sheik muhammad ibrahim here in egypt says its not from quran or sunnah because its what the kufr do and the prophet (pbuh) also said it as well
It's simply a cultural thing... it doesn't go against our aqedah because we're not doing anything that's wrong. In my eyes we're visiting a muslim sister, helping her, giving gifts and food, bringing the family close, and celebrating something good. Which is something that our beloved salalahu alaihi was salam encouraged us to do. As long as there is no haram involved you can do it how you want. May Allah forgive us for our shortcomings. Deeds are according to intentions. Allah knows best.
I am also a muslim and I plan on having a babyshower with my friends and ten days after the birth a gathering with the family. No one is against having a shower, though my inlaws are suspicious of People having the 'bad eye' when they find out the gender. Most people already know :)
How did u mommies celebrate it?what kind of games u had?im also not too sure how islam regards this whole baby shower thing but i thought itd be nice to have my close families around to celebrate the excitement with me. Maybe now or maybe after.but thank you soo much ladies for your answers.definitely helped me out!
Slmz.. I gt a situation bcoz my family has babyshowers n are cool wit it but my hubbys side is strictly no so I decided to have a babyshower my cuz my side family is throwing it for me n maybe for hes family after 40 days wil have a gathering so maybe u could have a gathering after ur 40 days after baby is born just suggesting swty. Goodluck
In dis part of the world it's culture ..As long as it's celebrated with good intentions I don't see anytin bad in it.i guess I have to do rresearch on it as regards islam.having mine in jan.
I've thrown my own baby shower both times. I think everyone should have one to celebrate baby.
All you need is food, games, prizes that's all it is.
I have a list on games in my journals.
Only the kufr have baby showers its not for muslims to do its not from quran or sunnah thats what the aqeeqah is for
Maybe a small get-together then? I can try ask my family if we can have it then. So glad to have your feedbacks!ive been thinking bout it for weeks whether or not to have it.
Around 32 or 34 weeks so you have enough time to put things through the wash, do returns, and get final things organized.
I think the whole "jinxing" thing is cultural. It's fine to throw a baby shower but usually people like close friends and families are the ones that organize the event for you. You just show up and accept all your wonderful gifts lol I'm not having a baby shower.. but i know I'll get plenty of visitors after birth and they will all bring gifts.
When's the best time to have it?i dont even know how to throw a shower... :(
I would have one yes go for it
