My son was 6 lbs 12 oz at birth and the newborn diapers were also way too big. We went to Target the day he got home to get premie ones (they say up to 7 lbs but I think he wore them longer than that...) and they fit SO much better on him until maybe 1 month, just like Kelly above me said!
We got some of the Huggies 1-2 for Christmas and I don't like them at ALL - the pampers swaddlers seem to do a much better job for us. THe huggies seem to leak out the sides too frequently. We get them at Walmart too so if he outgrows a size and we have unopened ones we just take them back and exchange for another size. One of the few Walmart good points.
My son is 1 month old and still can wear the preemie diapers.....he's 8 lbs. now......The newborn ones are way too big.......Like Whitney said, all babies are different a grow at different rates...so you won't be able to tell for sure until the baby is here!!!
omg lol alex was in nb for idk maybe 2-3 weeks?! he's a heffer....we bought 2 56/pk nb, and that lasted idk how long, but i do know when they ran out, we started buying 1's....
also, idk if you care about brand, but i know w/pampers and huggies poor alex can pee once, and it looks like i've left him in the same diaper for HOURS....but i use whitecloud, and if i can make it to HEB, i buy their brand....heck i LOVE whitecloud, 124 for $16 lol.....
my son was in newborn diapers only in the hospital..as he was 9lbs 2 ounces at birth..he was in size 1 until the beginning of his 2 month and now he is in size 2
thank you ladies. i have 2 packs of new born swaddlers and i think like 3 packs of size ones. plus a huge economy size case of sensitive wipes and like 4 containers of wipes that i can re-ill with the economy box. so hopefully i will be set then.
All babies are different. I'd buy one pack of each until you find out how fast your little one grows. Aspen was in Pampers Newborn until she was 3 months old.
Some babies grow out of newborrn diapers so fast. It's always good to have the size one's around.
I agree with dnikki- you'll get newborn diapers in the hospital. I always ask for extras before I leave.
If your little one ends up being bigger, then you'll know to just have size ones and skip newborn. But if your little one ends up being small you can stop by a store on the way home and get a newborn pack.
My rule is to buy from Walmart (so I can return any unopened diapers if I don't need them).
I buy 1-2 packs of newborn size and 3-4 packages of size 1. Babies use up about 10-12 diapers a day when they're first born.
The hospital will more than likely have your baby's cart stocked... They kept my son's cart well stocked with t-shirts with the mittens, diapers, petroleum jelly...We were able to take it ALL home with us. I think we still ended up buying 1 maybe 2 boxes of NB diapers...
I bought 1 pack of newborn diapers and they were a little tight on my son so I went out and bought size one... I would just get size one unless you are going to have a small baby...
My first son wore Pampers swaddlers newborn diapers for 3 months so not all babies grow out of them quickly (he has no bum)! Griggsy and Mumita are right though- every newborn is different. I purchased only one box of newborn size and one of size 1. Beyond that I think it is best to wait to see how your newborn grows.
Hi leighanne. i cant remember very well because my son is nearly 10. If it was me i would get a couple of packs of nappies[sorry we call them nappies] newborn is a good place to start. Then if you have a big baby you can get some more when you get home, and not waste too much money. Good luck. x
I agree with Mumita. They will grow out of newborns so fast. I have no newborn diapers yet, but 4 boxes of size 1-2 and 3 boxes of 3. I am trying to get a full years worth before I deliver as it will save me so much money in the long run.
You are due that soon already?! Time flies!
I've heard that babies grow out of the newborn diapers too quickly so about one box is enough.
