I was around 16 weeks I think when I got some friends together to paint. My ex put the baby furniture together for me the same day we found out we were having a little girl, I was just shy of 18 weeks. I've been working on the little details since and am getting pretty close to being done, at around 27 weeks now. I'm really glad I did it so early, that way I could concentrate on other things (or just being lazy lol) later in the pregnancy. The main reason I did it so early was that I was trying to get the painting done during my Christmas break (I teach at a college), but I think if I ever have another child I'm definitely going to get started early again.

I didn't start painting until 26 weeks. I'm 29 now and it's still not done. We figure we have plenty of time. We don't have anything yet (we're waiting on the baby shower) so we can't set it up.

I waited until after we found out the sex because I had two completely different rooms planned out depending if it was a boy or girl. Then I took things slowly. I am so picky and everything had to match that I picked out the bedding and had to wait for it to be shipped and then had to color match the paint to the bedding and then test it. Painting took a couple weeks and then I looked around for furniture. I took everything really slow but started at about 25 weeks and was done around 34 weeks. I'm glad I started early because I ended up being put on bedrest and wouldn't have been able to complete it if I hadn't started when I did.

I want to paint my baby's room too and I'm only 6 weeks. I decided I need to wait until I knew the sex so it can be a cute little flower girl room or a cute jungle room for a boy. I've learned if you don't have patience, pregnancy will give it to you. I don't think its too soon for anything! You would just have to do a unisex color.

Yeah I did a really light, almost seafoam green, good for either boy or girl. I figured I'd just accessorize with traditional boy/girl colors. It came out really pretty. I'm picky too, still trying to figure out the right lamp, have tried like 10 stores so far, so I definitely needed the extra time. And I asked for everything but nursery furniture for my baby shower, it wasn't too expensive so I just went ahead and bought it. Most of the people in my life don't really have money to drop on furniture like that.

Painting is best done early so its fume free when baby arrives. I'm just hanging photos but sorted all furniture at around 26 weeks as I worry so much.

I had our theme picked out the second we found out we were expecting. We are doing a super Mario theme....I'm a huge Mario fan and the main colors we chose was primary blue, red, and yellow. We have touched of black, white, and green accent colors going through! We figured if it was a girl we would throw princess peach and princess daisy in there to girly it up...but like my mothers intuition we are having a boy to the theme overal fits him. I started picking things up (like accessories)  around 15wks.(I'm 21wks now) We rent so can't paint but we are in the process of relocating 5 hours away from were we currently live so buying furniture is put on the back burner until we get in the new house! By that time I will be 30wks and hubby will be forced to do all the set up for the room and I will come in and accessorize it.

If you don't mind an unisex theme....I would say go ahead and start now! If you have your heart set one a certain theme of either of the sexes I would wait until after you find out! Best of luck!
