Ask your doc. There are meds you can use. And im sure lotions that will help that wont harm baby. I plan to bf and i know its gonna hurt a lot! But i want the experience. And like most things time will make it easier

It hurts at first because your breasts are so tender but as you progress they kinda get tough in a way. Later it should only be a Lil uncomfortable at first but if they start to hurt pretty bad you could develop Mastitis that's also accompanied by a fever.

Lanolin helps a ton! Let your breasts air dry after a feeding and then rub lanolin into the nipple and areola and cover them. Make sure your pads are changed out consistently and not sitting there damp forever. Breastmilk rubbed into the nipples can help too. The fiat two weeks are the hardest! Your body has never done this before and it's gonna be a bit sore for a while. But after you get used to it, it gets crazy easy and comfortable. Good luck mama!

Try not to tense up even though it hurts - makes it harder for baby to pull milk so she'll suck even harder. Talk to a lactation consultant to make sure you're getting a good deep latch - a shallow latch might deliver plenty of milk but it hurts like crazy. Spend as much time as possible without a shirt on and let milk air-dry on your nipples after each feeding (that's all I ever needed, no lanolin at all - it might work but I didn't want to get anything so processed into my little one's system). Deep breaths. It gets easier. Promise. A month from now you'll feel so good... just don't give up! It's totally worth fighting for!

To ease sore nipples, after each feed, dip your nipples in lukewarm water to which half a teaspoon of common salt is added. It fixes the sores as well as relieves the pain. Then wash with plain water and apply lanolin based nipple cream.

Honestly I've been breastfeeding for 18 days and my boobs feel like they are gonna fall off from the pain. Its the worse pain I have ever felt and I rather give birth every time I feed her cuz its that painful. Nothing can touch my boobs whatsoever even taking a shower is painful.

It does get a lot better just as long as you stick it out. Afterwards it feels like such an accomplishment to have gone through it and providing food for your child and mnowing your the reason they are healthy and gaining weight.

It goes get better, I promise! Make sure that your baby has a good latch, since a bad one can cause more irritation, and use Lanolin like previous comments say. Its amazing stuff! The first couple weeks are the hardest, hang in there and take it one day at a time! Keep reminding yourself that every time you feed your baby you're giving her the best start at life that you can!

It will get better... don't quit... it will be rough the first month. Make sure you don't get too much soap your breast. Because it dries your nipples which can also make them hurt.

Where I live they also have a gel like patch thing I'm not sure what they are called but made by the same company that makes the cream everyone had mentioned on here. I really liked those they stick to your nipple and give you some relief as well. Kind of like a cooling effect. Good luck
