preclampsia?

I have asked my doctor repeatedly about some concerns I have and he continues to sayings normal. I was looking to are if anyone could help me out. I have had swelling...I know that is normal for pregnancy...however my swelling doesn't want to go down for days! My legs all the way to my thighs and now my hands have started swelling. I have this headache that won't go away even after I take medicine. Does anyone else have these problems or should I be conceded?

I'm glad to hear you were not happy with his answer and got your UTI treated. I think if you can't get in with another OB right away I would go to the hospital again. Preeclampsia is not a joke. I'm sure you know this. Please keep us posted.

My cousin had it and gained 200 lbs with her pregnancy.

I swear this guy just doesn't know what he is doing. I had a bladder infection way back in my first trimester and he said I didn't. Went to photojournalism the same day and the labor and deliver doctor there confirmed a bladder infection. I ask about my blood pressure and tests everyone he just tells me not to worry about it. However I started out with low blood pressure and I've noticed a huge increase in the past two weeks. Thank all of you ladies for our help. I think I mast try to follow up with a different obgyn for a second opinion.

That sounds like preeclampsia-protein, high bp and excessive swelling. I'd follow up with your doc tomorrow.

i had protein in my urine. i had to do a 24 hr urine test. didnt get my results back yet... but my blood pressure is very high

Do they get urine samples from you?
Every doctor's appointment I have
I have to pee on a little strip and they check the little squares to see if they change a certain color this test checks for protein in you urine and that will let them know.

You would have protein in your urine if you had preeclampsia. This is how my OB was able to determine it along with my side effects. Make sure to ask how your urine sample is when you go in next. Hope it doe at turn into that with you. Best wishes

I am now 35 weeks. I have told him I was conceded about it because it runs on my mothers side. All her sisters had it and started asking about my swelling and that is when I voices my concern to them about the headache, swelling, and dizziness. They told me to have my doctor check because that is exactly how they felt....but the doctor just brushes me off.

How far on are you? Did you mention that you feared it may be pre eclampsia to your doctor?
