Pre eclampsia appears in the second half of pregnancy, after 20 weeks. I just looked it up in a book to be 100% sure I was correct, and it was consistent. Sorry you have hypertension though, hope you feel better.

I didn't know you could get pre-eclampsia at 8 weeks pregnant. The soonest I knew of was 12-14 weeks. I hope your doctor intends to monitor you extremely closely if you're already having problems with this. The high majority of women don't have this develop until at least 20-30 weeks. Do you have high levels of protein in your urine?

Also, when carefully managed under a doctors supervision, most women go on to have healthy babies and safe pregnancies. Although, this greatly depends on how well its managed and how severe it is.

Generally speaking, preeclampsia doesn't develop until after 20 weeks. How far along are you? I had preeclampsia that developed in my third trimester. My sister in law had pih, pregnancy induced hypertension, but she did not have preeclampsia. Hers developed in her first trimester and was managed with blood pressure medication.
