pregnancy after a missed miscarriage

Hello. I am 27, 2 living children. I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago, at around 5 weeks. My doctor is not sure if it was a missed miscarriage, a blighted ovum, or a non pregnant hormone surge. I think it was a blighted ovum, as I passed what could have been a placenta and another clot that could have been a zygote that did not form. I did not lose a lot of blood and only bled lightly for about one week. No DNC needed. Now that my hcg levels have returned to a non pregnant value and I should be ovulating in the near future. Some say I shouldn't wait at all, as I lost very little blood, others say 3 months, others say one year, my doctor did not mention how long I should wait. What do you think? Or have you had experiences that would help in knowing how long to wait?

Well the tissue you pass during a very early miscarriage wouldn't be the placenta (doesn't form until week 10-12) and the embryo would be so tiny (like as big as these lines --) that you wouldn't see them. The tissue would have to be tested to know for sure what happened. Most doctors won't test it though for a first miscarriage because it is expensive.

The tissue is usually the uterine lining and the sac.

I have had 2 miscarriages. After my first miscarriage I got pregnant after my first period (it took 8 weeks to get a period after my miscarriage). My daughter was born full-term and perfectly healthy.

My last miscarriage was this past November. I got pregnant again right after my first period (also took 8 weeks to get a period after this loss). I am currently over 10 weeks pregnant now and we saw the heartbeat already.

You should wait 1-3 periods before trying again.

Check out this website- it is VERY helpful in understanding your body and emotions after a miscarriage.
