One of my doctor suggests an olive oil perineal massage. Its the closest oil to human body oil and it helps. With my first she actually did it in between contractions because it seemed like I was going to tear. I still tore a little but it honestly wasnt that bad. You have to do a sits bath (sp) for a couple of day but I hardly knew it was there.

My doctor told me that it MIGHT help prevent tearing if you push one contraction skip one push one skip one. But at the time I just wanted her out so I kept pushing. If I end up getting the epidural this time I will probably do that.
