prolonged bleeding after child birth

I delivered by C-section on Dec. 1st. Since that time I have been bleeding. About a month ago it became extremely heavy to the point I had to go see a dr. I was going thru a super tampon every 20 min. She put me on some kind of hormone for 6 days which did slow the bleeding to a normal period in heaviness- and told me to start the pill when the hormones were over. I have been on the pill for 3 weeks and still have my period. This is going on a total of 3 1/2 months  now. Some days are light- but never just spotting, some heavy. I did not breastfeed so I know thats not the issue.  I went in for ultrasound last week and they didnt see anything that could be causing the issue and the tech told me it must be a hormonal imbalace, and since Im not responding to hormones that the dr may reccomend a  ablation (step down from hysterectomy) I do not have health insurance and to say the least this process of figuring it out is costing me a fortune. I have an apt next week with my dr to go over my options. Just wanted to know did anyone else go thru this what was the outcome. To me It seems drastic to go straight for an ablation and maybe a different hormonal treatment would be the answer.

This is my second pregnancy but only my first birth. I lost the first baby at 7 months. That was about 10 years ago.

With any issue, you can always get a second opinion.  I would, if I were in your shoes. My sister has a friend that had her son in Feb. 2008 and bleed for the entire year before she became pregnant again with her daughter.  I know that birth control pills worked for her but when she was off them, the bleeding started again and continued.  Is this your first child?  I'm wondering if this happened before with another child too.
