I told family and a few close friends when I had my 1st ultrasound & saw the baby's heartbeat. And announced it to everyone else when I was 12 weeks.

No, It's not true as miscarriages are not caused by somethin' you've done or said, It's somethin' that juss didn't develop right and causes It. But like the ladies above said, It's better to wait until your In your second trimester to tell people as when your In your second trimester, the rate of miscarriage decreases dramatically.

Telling someone you're pregnant can't make you miscarry. They just say to wait till you're past 12 weeks to tell anyone//buy things.. its more of a superstition, or an old wives tale

I didn't announce until I was 18 weeks. It's best to wait cause the first trimester you're high risk

What people mean is its usually good to wait until the second trimester to tell people because everyone's risk of miscarriage is higher in thr beggining.
Better than getting people/yourself really excited isthe ooinpoint I believe.
