Getting a 3d/4d ultrasound gift certificate for baby shower?

Do you think its a good gift idea to get a gift certificate for a 3d ultrasound as a baby shower gift? My best friend is 27 weeks pregnant and she had to go on early maternity leave and they don't have the extra money to get the 3d ultrasound done.. I know that when I was still pregnant I was so excited when I got mine done... :o)  They don't know what the sex of the baby is yet and she really wants to know but her ob isnt gonna give her another ultrasound unless he absolutely has too so I want to get her just the basic 3d package which is $99 as a shower gift.. do you think thats a good idea?

i also think it's a great idea, even if they don't get to find out the sex of the baby. I would of loved that gift =]

Excellent idea...and Joy's idea of going in on it with someone else and then picking up a little something extra is a great idea too!

I think it'll still be an awesome gift, even if they don't see baby's "parts"! Because they'll at least get the awesome experience and see their little ones face. It'll also be fun for them to see the face and think, "I think the face looks like a boy/girl face".

When I had my 2nd u/s that's how I made people guess. I showed them the pictures of her face and everyone said, "This baby better be a girl because that's what it looks like!"

the thing I am worried about is at her 20 week anatomy scan the ob had to use the trans vaginal ultrasound because she is carrying so low and the babies feet are down that its hard to pick them up with the belly ultrasound... I wonder if she'll have a good chance finding out what the sex is... I mean even if they can't tell i guess she will still have the cute 3d pics of her baby

Oh, another thought! Maybe you and a friend could go in on the ultrasound so she could get it early. And then you both could get a little something else with that money you would've spent on the entire ultrasound yourself. That way you have a gift that you can physically bring to the shower!

YES!!! You should so get it for her! But she should actually have the ultrasound no later than 28 weeks or the baby will begin to get too large to see very well. So you may have to give it to her before the actual shower.

If it were me, I'd TOTALLY love a gift like that!
