Has any mothers on here used marijuana to help morning sickness and depression? I've heard a lot of people say it is the only thing that works, but I'd like to know what anyones experience with it is. Anything to worry about if I did?

From what ive read, in serious cases of hyper emesis gravidum, it has been prescribes in states where its medicinally legal. But only if seriously needed. One big issue to consider is that it could be laced with something unknown, and the unknown is what puts the baby and yourself at major risk.

This isn't really the place to be raising such a controversial topic.  no mum on herewith going to condone smoking weed and tell you to go ahead and dope your baby, because what you take into you, you take into your baby. Yes some places drug test automatically, some places won't. But if they have suspicion to believe you take drugs whilst pregnant, they have a right to vest you and your baby as a matter of urgency, they are required by law to ensure the safety of your baby. If they were to do so and they found even traces of drugs in your baby, protective services would become involved as safety of your child is paramount to them. If you want answers on this, your Dr would be the best person to consult. I've worked in mental health for years now, and child services prior to that, and i have seen babies born to drug addicted mothers and the outcome is never good. Pregnancy is only max  42 weeks, its not that long in retrospect. I would urge you to reconsider and allow your baby to reach its full growth potential. As an above poster said. Morning sickness is only temporary, its not there for the rest of your life

I really wouldn't. If they ever drug tester you cps would have to get involved and you could lose custody over the baby. Not worth it in my eyes. The morning sickness is only temporary

Even if your not tested at your obgyn every visit....you and your baby are definitely tested after delivery......your child will be taken if anything is found in their system....its not worth it...speak to your doc about morning sickness. .and a therapist about depression.....best of luck.

weed would temporarily help you but then you would feel worse afterwards, that's why people get addicted to certain drugs like it(because they want that happy feeling and the more you smoke the less it will start to work you will need more and more to reach that original "happy place") I get depressed sometime and nauseous but I wont do drugs expecially while pregnant it will cause the baby to develop slower and some hormones in certain drugs can send you into early labor, so even if you have your baby @ 38 weeks the baby could only be 34 physically due to the toll the drugs put on its body, and it will be addicted and have to go threw withdraws and be put on meds.. not everyone is drug tested at obgyn but I can tell you I am, everytime you pee in a cup or get your blood drawn everything that's in your system that will show up is written on your paper work and doctors have to report this because of the risk of preterm labor and putting the baby and mom as "high risk"

It seems like you already have youre mind made up... I have never heard marijuana or any drugs were OK to use during pregnancy.  And I've never done drugs so I couldn't tell you what helps with depression.  I would go to therapy if I were you. And see if they can prescribe something for depression.

I smoked before I knew I was pregnant and still haven't been drug tested or they would have already said something about it being in my system. I've been given two different kinds of meds for nausea one also Helps schizophrenia and isn't even recommended for pregnant women but is prescribed by many doctors. But neither one helps at all. As for depression they will not prescribe anything because they believe it will be too risky for a baby. I've read studies and I know that none have proven that smoking leads to any birth defects but I was just wondering if there are any experienced mothers on here that it actually worked for. I've had depression for a long time and weed never made it worse after the comedown it always led to thinking through why I felt the way I did and realizing I should be happy, on the other hand the uppers such as Molly or ecstasy actually made me even more depressed after ever taking them because you get happiness for a short amount of time, you don't think about it, then its suddenly gone. I'm not argueing your points, I don't want to harm my child and haven't done any drugs at all since the day I found out I was pregnant. I'm just very confused and don't have enough experienced mothers to speak to.

There are alot of people who have said it works and I can see why it would, but honestly the benefits don't outweigh the risks. There are some adverse affects on the baby In some cases and in others the baby cones out fine. BUT why Bother even risking a bad affect on the child.? plus Doctors drug test you and if they find anything in your system they will take your baby away once it's born. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor about it. They can prescribe legal and perfectly safe meds for morning sickness and depression.  If your doctor won't listen to you drop them and get someone who will give you the help you need.

When I was in treatment for behavior they had the dea come in and talk about all different drugs. Weed is one drug that when you smoke makes you feel happy, but eventually you will get depressed because it is a downer. Meth coke ect. Are uppers and make you happy. In school I also researched it and found the same things.
