scared of having my baby

Everytime I watch birthing videos i ball my eyes out cause it looks so amazing but so so scary all at the same time. And I can't decide if I'd like to try and have my first lil man natural or go the epidural route. Either ways sounds dreadfully scary. Don't know what to do! And my fiance is not much help.  Anynody have experiences or suggestions?

I was very nervous and afraid with my first as well. I was scared of the contractions, epidural, the whole thing. If you decide to go natural, more power to ya girl!! I definitely think I couldn't have done it without the meds and epidural. Well, I was induced and was in labor for 27 hours! I went 12 hours without the pain meds, and omg let me tell you! I felt a weight lifted off of me. I could actually rest a little. The contractions were long and very hard every 1-2 minutes from the start and didn't let up. I went 17 hours without the epidural and it was a life saver! I was scared of the needle but I didn't even feel it because they numb it first. After that, things progressed pretty quickly and was holding my big baby girl before I knew it! :) When things get going you will forget about the frightening things, and concentrate on the baby. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but was very sore after! Each minute was definitely worth it! Congrats and good luck!

I'm very afraid of being that one person that may get paralyzed or getting. Poked and general. I've got plenty of tats but a needle that long into my spinal cord sounds scary

I am more afraid of needles in my spine than a baby coming out of my vagina. I had my first almost completely natural. Tylenol got me through up until active labor, then they gave me Stadol (sp?). I want to try this one completely natural, especially if I don't have to be induced again.

As for the pain- it was certainly the most pain I had ever felt, but it wasn't as bad as I had been lead to believe. The epidural is your choice, but personally I don't ever want one.

I'm going to try my hardest to go natural, but if I really really can't take it I'll get the walking epidural , so I'm not completely numb & can feel the process still
