I feel like i'm just being stupid. I won't even admit to my husband just how scared i really am. I am scheduled for what will be my second c section at 7am tomorrow morning and i am a wreck. I can't even think straight. My 1st c section was an emergency an i was put to sleep but i will be awake for this one. I'm sure that is part of my problem. The idea of being awake and alert while being cut open is just odd and scary. I didn't sleep last night an since i have to be at the hospital at 5am i'm sure i won't get much sleep tonight either. Can someone that has done this before please tell me that it's not as bad as what i have going on in my head.

Everything went perfectly :) as nervous as i was, i had prepared myself for the worst an you ladies helped set my mind at ease.  c section started at 7:15 an my tiny guy was born at 7:27 screaming his lil head off an peeing all over the place lol. At 6.5lbs an 20in long he was much smaller then his older brother. I'm trying to get a pic on here but it never wants to cooperate.

For what it is worth, they don't chatter and clink the medical instruments.  Try to get a few winks.  You'll be too excited after the baby comes.  :)

You'll do great, and its all for good reason. Make sure your husband is talking to you and comforting you and it will be over before you know it.  Im still nervous for my third so its completely normal for u to feel that way. Good vibes your way!!

I was awake for my first csection and I wish I wasn't. I couldn't stand the pressure/pushing/pulling/tugging feeling. It made me so freaking sick. That's the only reason that I'm dreading my scheduled csection on December 20. I am going to ask my Dr to knock me out. I don't want to remember that again. I'm not squeamish whatsoever, but that feeling was down right horrible to me.

That's what the doctor told me, but i know that even hearing all of the chatter an medical instruments being passed around is going to drive me crazy. I now have to be up in 5 hrs to shower an get ready to go an i'm nowhere close to being able to sleep :( ugh!  i just want it to all be over an be home an all healed up just loving my new family. I swear i can't decide if i need to cry or throw up. Wow i really sound like a child right now. Im so sorry if anyone is reading this an it's making their nerves worse, but i just have to get it out

For what it is worth, you are entirely curtained off from your lower body.  You couldn't see what they are doing if you tried, and only hear the medical staff.

Wow. Thank you so so much ladies. That really did help. I think it always sets my mind at ease a bit when i hear stories of things going well. I think i will also have my husband talk to me while it's going on to help keep my mind on something besides the medical staff.

Ive had 2 s csections and scheduled for a 3rd here in jan. Its more nerve wracking than anything but things go very smooth when its scheduled. Anniebrooke basically hit it head on. First the first hour or so, they just monitor baby, ull get the epidural in your back which what to me was the most scary part, all u feel is tugging and pushing sensation on your stomach and then u will hear baby cry. U will then go to recovery. The idea is scary but when planned, it goes very smooth.

I've had 2 and will be having another one with this baby in December.  My first one was also an emergency but I wasn't put to sleep. While you are awke you are anything but alert lol. It just feels like you are really high off some good stuff. I think I even dozed off for a few minutes during my 2and one. There is nothing to be scared or nervous about it will be fine :)

I was awake for my C-section, epidural from waist down, and it was fine.  I've heard that some women come away with a headache from the epidural, but I didn't, and am wondering if that is more a thing of the past than common nowadays as anesthesiologists are so good.  My husband stood up at my head, I didn't want him down chatting with the doctor and watching them cut open my stomach, and he was fine, too.  The doctor warned me that I would feel like they were pushing on my stomach at one point, and I did.  But all it felt like was someone pushing on my stomach, literally no pain.  And of course, about one minute in, you get to hear your baby cry and see him, so you couldn't care less if someone is pushing on your stomach.  Literally the only thing about it that would even be considered remotely painful at the very beginning when they are in the process of getting you numb.  The anesthesiologist gives you something like a little shot of novocaine in your back, to numb the area where the epidural needle will go in, and it stings.  But not even hurts.  (I had been in labor when I went in for the C, so as things immediately began to stop hurting with every passing moment, I was doing FINE.)  The anesthetic works fast.  Anyway, I was clear headed and felt rested and it was not a big deal.  My suggestion is that if you are absolutely panicked, call your doctor today and ask if you could have a Valium beforehand, tomorrow.  But I promise you that especially with a scheduled C (not an emergency one), things will be very calm.

i havent had a second one yet. but i was awake for my first. i was freaking out as well. but i had my husband talk to me, i dont even remember what he was talking about now but it felt like it made it go by wayyy faster. i didnt want to hear what the docs were saying behind the curtain so it helped (:
