spinal block for c section

Hello ladies I'm getting my scheduled c section done on friday..n this the only thing that freaks me out!!!! Dr said it's a spinal block shot that goes in ur back...for my first emergency c section I had an epidural n can't remember the pain :/ ladies that always had it done tell.me how it is !!!! Please

I'm planning on having a repeat csection and I was worried about the same things! After reading these comments I feel better about having a repeat section! My first I was induced but didn't dilate past a 6 and had a epidural which I HATED and they used that for my spinal block as well ...and I remember shaking so bad they said it was normal but it was BAD! I hope I'm calmer with this one!

It hurts to me, I was induced with my son, I had an emergency csection so they had to put in a spinal block because I didn't have anything, then they hit my bone it felt like so I had to have another one after they took out the first one, so I have 3 kids and 4 spinal blocks but my last one, I didn't feel a thing! He was great, that one I could say that was the best spinal block that Iv had and he was quick and good at his job.... I hope this time will be like my last spinal since I'm going back in April to have my 4th csection =)

I agree with valerie 100% my 1st ended up with an emergency c section and epidural it was painful after and during I felt all the pulling and pressure they tell u about. I've had 2 repeat c sections since then and I'll be having my 3rd in 34 days :) I didn't feel a thing with my 2 planned c sections I was so peaceful and relaxed and even the spinal itself felt better it didn't feel like they were digging around in my spine like the epidural did. I hated my epidural and when I went to have my 2nd c section I actually had a panic attack remembering the feeling of the epidural but thank god the spinal turned out to be nothing like it

It really feels almost identical to the epidural but works sooooooooo much better. I also had a emergency c section with my first but epidural wore off long before c section & I felt everything. Went into shock & they knocked me out once he was out of me. So I freaked when I had to have a c section with my last but let me tell you, it was a breeze.  So easy & I didn't feel a thing. Im looking forward to my planned c section this time. I promise there is no need to worry yourself. The spinal isn't bad at all & im a needle freak lol im scared to death to get shots, or my blood drawn. Haha ironic because im a phlebotomist.
