stretch marks

So my mom had all 8 of us kids and survived with NO stretch marks.
My sister had her first baby 3 months ago and has them all over.
Is there any way that I can help prevent stretch marks for myself when my preggo time comes? I have heard of using some sort of lotion or cream, but I don't know what! I know my mom used something faithfully in her pregnancies, and my sister did not.

you will either get them or you wont .with my 1st I used expensive cream 3 times a day and at 7 months started getting them. I have them all over. My mom had 3 kids and not even 1.

I have to agree with the others. It's all a matter f genetics. You can try anything you want though. I didn't use anything (I could have cared less if I got any) and I only got a few on my lower back and you can't see them anymore. My friend used cream and lotions everyday, twice a day and her belly is stretched to pieces. It's also possible you not get them your entire pregnancy and then they pop up after you deliver.

If its going to happen it will and NOTHING will prevent them. Lotions and creams and oils help reduce the appearance but if they are going to be there they will. Also most stretchmarks seem to occur at the very end of pregnancy. A friend of mine had none and then a week before her due date she woke up and they were there. ***** but its part of being a mom.

My grandmother gave birth to all her children without stretch marks and she swears it's because of the product she used. She used an oil rather than a lotion. They don't make the same thing she used but she sent me a bottle of something called "Save My Skin" by Pure Romance. Despite my small size and my ballooning uterus I've yet to see the first sign of stretch marks. Only time will tell though...

I agree it's either going to happen or it won't.  lotions definitely help with itching.  I use palmers cocoa butter massage cream It doesn't prevent them (nothing will) but it helps lighten them.

It is what it is. If you're gonna get them, you can't stop it. But lotioning and moisturing the skin does help the appearance of them and makes your skin more flexable. It's just a part of life.
