I've had two pitocen induced labors without using pain meds. My first birth, I started doubting myself and my ability to do it when I was in the shower trying to deal with awful back labor. I thought about asking for an epidural but asked to be checked first. I was told I was almost eight cm and I knew I was close so I kept going. Almost four hours later my daughter was born! She was almost nine pounds and came out face up: ouch!
Last week I had my second daughter. My labor was about twice as long this time around and I got stuck at a five for several hours (hence the pitocen). Once my contractions picked up more (and I got unstuck, although I didn't know it at the time), I started feeling like I needed to push. I flat out told my husband that if I got checked and was still a five that I was getting the f*ing epidural. I actually never got checked again and she was born about half an hour later. Seriously, when you start wanting the meds, you're probably pretty much done!
I did get a spinal (similar to the epidural) for a surgical repair after my lo was born. It was horrible! I hated the sensation of not quite numb, got the shakes super bad, and my back is still aching at the injection site over a week later. I would not recommend it and will never ever get one again! If I need another surgical repair, knock me out!
Hey im a first time mom too planning to go completely natural im 34 weeks 3 days and my baby is currently breech so im hoping she turns so i can go through with it! Its getting so close! :)
Thank you guys.
Kinda eased my mind but i guess i will never know untell its time.
I'm 32w4d by the way, so haven't got long to go either! Good luck lovely :)
Im a FTM. My partner would like me to go natural, sounds like he's been reading up about things and is paranoid! He said he thinks gas would be the best option and not the epidural, it's cute that he's getting himself involved and not pushing me. Of course at the end of the day it's up to me and not him but as a personal thing, I would also like to try natural. At first I was so scared but he's helped ease my mind about things and been so supportive so I'm going to give it a go. Of course, once I'm in there, it might change so I've gotta keep an open mind. I'm still scared but not so much as I use to be :) it's different for everyone, but if you wanna try natural, go for it! Don't feel bad about taking pain relief though either, they are there to help after all :) x
I went natural with my first. Of course it hurt, but you won't really remember the pain down the road. I plan to go naturally again with this one! But everyone is different
After baby comes out its like the pain goes away its a wonderful relief feeling ;)
All i can say is GOOD LUCK MOMMA
Ill say this... If you get to a point where you just cant take the pain any longer before pushing then get the meds. I didnt with my daughter i was completely natural it was painful indeed but it wasnt that bad honestly but everyone is different, im 36 weeks now with my son & i think i might get the meds because he has his fathers head lol im thinking itll be way more painful but ill try no meds first
Does the pain go away after the baby comes out??
Everyone is different. My first didn't hurt and Iwas only at the hospital a few hours before ggiving birth, hopefully this time its the same.
