uti not treated

I have a mild uti with no physical signs and i would like not to treat it because i don't want any drugs during my pregnancy... Do i risk much with doing so? I really don't know which way to choose...

you really need to have it treated. I have a friend who didn't know she had one and ended up in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. it's very dangerous for you and the baby not to get some medicine. what they give you will be ok for both of you.

too dint need medicine. Trust me. I've had like chronic uti's my whole life. Go to the store and buy a gallon of cranberry juice. and drink the whole thing, or most of it, in one day. Make it like a lazy day that you can devote to relaxing, drinking glass after glass of cranberry juice and peeing A LOT. you should be drinking so much you have to pee every 15-30 minutes. finish the gallon and you should be fine. Also a hot bath. Just water, no soap or anything. Not hot tub hot but hot enough to relax. It really does work

Go to your pharmacy and buy cranberry tablets or satchels. Use as the directions say so...
Also to prevent any UTI'S later during your pregnancy, take a cranberry tablet once a day.

I know they can harm my kidneys and i would take the risk, but the drugs i have to take aren't exactly good for pregbancy, i've had this uti since i was 2 and by now it doesn't react to stuff good for my baby, so i'm between 2 bad choices, having to choose the one less dangerous... My doctor told me to take the drugs, but i'm not really confident with it... I will try the cranberry and hope for the best... Thank you all...

They can prescribe antibiotics which won't harm you or your baby. It would be irresponsible not to have it treated whilst pregnant as this could have serious implications on your unborn baby. Cranberry juice helps but does not get rid of the bacteria causing the infection.   Being medically trained, the benefits of taking antibiotics for a few days will far outweigh the consequences of running the risk of the infection worsening x

Be careful wit uti.. I had one when I was 13 weeks n I went to dr monday they told me I had one n gave me a safe antibotic microbid. I think that's how u spell it but I didn't want to take it at first bc of the same reason but that wed night I started bleeding slightly heavy. I was so scared I rushed to hospital I thought I was having misscarriage but the bleeding was coming from my bladder from uti.. but the baby was fine and I took the antibotics n everything was fine! Utis are really common when pregnant and you def want to get rid of it bc it turns into another infection. . But if you start bleeding in the next couple days don't worry it.. uti could cause bleeding.  So be careful and goodluck!

I had 2 uti in the beginning of my pregnancy and when I asked my doctor about it he said if they go untreated it can cause early labour and health complications for my baby ... So he gave me a medicine that was only 3 days and it cleared up and now both baby and I are healthy as can be!! :) you should really consider taking the meds ...

1st off ur doc isn't gonna prescribe you anything that will harm your baby...they outweigh the risk vs benefits and if the benefits are greater than the risks, they'll go ahead and prescribe you whatever. I didn't want "drugs" during my pregnancy either, but at 10 weeks was diagnosed with gallstones and have had to be on medication 4x a day since then, I'm now 36+4 and my son is fine, weighs almost 6lbs if not already over 6lbs, and has no problems...but, if I hadn't taken their advice and took my pills, I would have been in and out of the hospital every other week and my liver would be in danger of being damaged. You don't want kidney problems during pregnancy, my friend just delivered her son a few days ago and she had kidney issues her whole pregnancy and was in the hospital 2-3 times a month in pain and had to go through various treatments and all kinds of things. If YOU aren't healthy, baby can't be healthy, so you have to take care of yourself to avoid causing problems to your baby..

I know how u feel bc I was afraid to take the meds at 10 weeks and didn't and at 22 weeks was hospitalized for 4 days in a pretty severe state..my white blood cells were like 14 times higher than what it should be. My liver enzymes were triple what they should be and my liver was in distress. Its not worth it to put yourself and baby at risk just bc u don't wanna take medicine during pregnancy, in my opinion..
