whats your biggest fear?

I just came accross a topic about breastmilk and it touched on one of my biggest fears in pregnancy.  I am so scared of not knowing if my baby is getting enough breastmilk or if I am producing enough milk.  What if I starve my baby???????? How do I know if my baby us getting enough breastmilk?

What are your biggest fears in pregnancy and post pregnancy?  Maybe we can help eachother put our fears to rest.

My biggeat fear was the epidural itself.  I am soooo not a fan of needles.  But honestly, the iv hurt much worse.  The breastfeeding i guess came naturally.  Biggest thing about breastfeeding is dont listen to what others tell you.  If your baby is gaining weight, wetting 6-8 diapers a day, and not crying for more when done feeding they are getting plenty.  My grandma tried to tell me i was starving my kids, but the doctor told me otherwise.  Just make sure you are taking in plenty of water while nursing.  And if you are still unsure about them gettinh enough, pump after they nurse so your body produces a little more next time.  Good luck!

My biggest fear is my baby staying breech and having to get a c section. I am just deathly afraid of having to be cut open. I don't even like the idea of having an iv in my hand and there's no way in hell i'd get a cathader in my spine. I'm pretty good with pain, and I am going to do this all natural.

Relax ladies- I've breastfed 2 babies successfully. I was 18 when I had my first- I breastfed for 8 months. Had my second at 20, and breastfed for 13 months. Although we are a civilized society, we as women still have natural instincts when it comes to our babies. If you're not producing enough milk, you will know if your baby is not satisfied. A good was in telling if your baby is satisfied is if s/he falls asleep during feeding. That's a good sign. Babies always fall asleep when their tummies are full. Once you have your baby, a few days after your breasts will start to gorge (sp?) themselves. Then over the next 1-2 weeks with feeding your baby, your body will determine how much your baby is eating, and will make enough milk to meet your baby's demands. If you suppliment too often, then your body will not produce enough milk if you decide you wanna do consistant breasfeeding afterwards. However, you can let your baby use your nipples as a pacifier- it will stimulate your breasts into producing more milk and after a while your breasts will produce enough milk for consistant breastfeeding again.

I'm a paranoid parent. lol. I have too many fears. One thing I'm deff not looking forward to is the pain of breasfeeding the first 2 weeks again. My fear WAS that since I got my nipples pierced, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to breastfeed. But I read up afterwards when I found out I was pregnant again, that there are 20+ tubes inside your nipple, and only a couple of them get damaged during the piercing. And now I'm starting to lactate again, so I feel relieved. My fear now is what kind of pain I'm going to be in during breastfeeding. My nipples lost most of the senstation from breastfeeding, and after I got them pierced it's made them wicked sensative. So I'm afraid it'll hurt more this time around. I'm also afraid of them closing up on me because they'll only be a year old when I have my baby and I'll have to keep them out for a few weeks because my nipples will be in too much pain to keep taking them in and out for every feeding.

You name it, I'm scared of it happening. Early labor, cord wrapped about the babys neck, pain meds during labor, not being able to produce milk, etc. But the thing I'm scared of most is losing my job.

I'm afraid I'll go into labor before my c-section.  I've had an increase in nose bleeds, so that might coast some issues :-(

I took the breastfeeding class and all that they said was you'll know.  I'm assuming based on the number of wet diapers.  They gave us a magnet for the fridge so it breaks down how many diapers per day we should be going through.

I am scared that my baby won't get enough milk either, but my local WIC office said that I can come in any time I want and they will help and see how much milk the baby is getting, so I'm a little more comfortable about that. My biggest fear is that something not going good during labor. I am keeping an open mind about all the possibly outcomes during labor, but last night I was watching video's about childbirth and I found the ones where something goes wrong and now I'm really nervous.

I've brought a pump so can check when I start. Your care provider may also tell if the baby isn't gaining the right amount of weight.
