Okay, due to some unfortuant events i have.to.get assistance. I am looking into wic and know a little about it. But have some questions. Can i get it even if i am married. How many checks etc do u get a month. What.type of stuff will i see. My other question is does food stamps count ur household as two if its just me and the hubby or do they count it as three since i am pregnant. Thanks for any help.

OMGoodness, You live like right next to me! I live out by hatcherspass in between wasilla, and palmer. We havent looked into any housing assistance, since my husband will eventually be going back to work and then we will be fine again. Its Crazy He makes amazing money here but the wisc unemployment we have is just down right dirt compared to the living income here.

I live outside wasilla. And ya there are A LOT of places that are horrible, sometimes it seems like the only places available for cheap are in really bad neighborhoods. But every once in a while on craigslist ( I checked religiously) there would be something really nice! Have you tried to get housing assistance yet? I don't know anything about it but I know a lot of people in Alaska have it and they only pay like 20 a month or so for rent. I have no clue how to get it but its a thought! And if you could get out of your cell contract you cab get the 1$ plan here. I know gci does it. I have att and I think they may have it too.

OH most def. I fall more in love with my husband all the time when it comes to this baby. Everynight when we go to bed, we snuggle and he always kiss the tummy and then lays his hand on it (must be a protective things) Well one night he wakes me up, and he like "hunny" I could feel the babys heartbeat on my hand! He was so excited. I giggled and said well i guess the baby wanted to show how much he/she loves you already. lol All the little things he does it cute. I will be doing the dishes and he will come up behind me and just hold my belly. (Makes me smile as i am saying this, which secretly my husband is probably thing i have to fart when looking at me. lmao)

Im sure whatever your baby ends up being, your husband is going to fall in love. Everytime I see my husband and my son together i fall more and more in love with him (husband). Im sure you will feel the same!

WOW!! Do you mind if i ask where in Alaska you live. When my husband first came up here, his work flew him to Nome and he stayed in a work house for a couple months, and then when he got back he looked every where, but alot of the places that we found that were in the 600-700 were just horrible. At least that is what he claims. We pay 900, for a two bedroom house, with 5 acres of nothing but woods, and a start to a basement ( we have no way to get there unless you go outside) But we dont pay for ultilities other than electric, and something else, dont remember.

I live in Alaska and yes the cost of living is higher but we just moved out of our 2 bedroom duplex with a HUGE back yard, front yard and side yard, really nice neighbors, oun laundry and all and we paid 600 a month. We are the managers and rent both sides out now, but you just have to know where to look I guess. We've always rented under 800, we just bought our first house too! :) I wish it was cheaper to live here too! I don't know anything different tho I was born and raised here.

I am due June 9th, so so much more to go. lol However I am secretly hoping "baby" wants to come in May. My husband and I both have birthdays at the end of May and I think it would be special to have the bond. My husband claims he will love the child no matter what, but whenever we see the "baby" or talk about the "baby" He always says "he" lol I keep telling him to stop in case "baby" ends up a girl and then he will be stuck calling our daughter a boy. lol My husband is one of three boys, and his family is known for boys, My family is pretty even. So his family thinks because My husbands "Seed" is the one to determine the sex, its going to be a boy since his family history. lol not sure how that works.

I think every dad wants a little boy...when my husband and I found out we were having a boy (first pregnancy) i thought my husband was going to pass out he was soo excited!!! This time when we went to find out the sex, the ultrasound lady announced we are going to have a girl...I also thought my husband was going to pass out..LOL! He was so convinced that we were going to have two boys. We are just excited to have one of each and two healthy children!   Being a mother is the best gift in the world!!! I think its awesome you are waiting to find out the sex, part of me wishes I would of waited...im sure the not knowing will make your delivery day that much more amazing! When are you due?

OMG everything is more expensive here. I am ready to move back home. I am depressed. I don't have any family and friends here, and we have a three hour time difference, so its so hard to try and accommodate my family and friends. Which is probably why i am on here so much. I am lucky enough to have a house, but its no where near nice, its a log house.. or should i say shack. lol Its two bedrooms, but feels so small to our 2 bedroom house back in wisc. which was like luxury compared to this. lol.

I hear you on the rent. NJ is so high. I was paying $1,100 for a 1 bedroom but thankfully just found a 2 bedroom for the same amount. I was loosing my mind sharing a room with both my girls lol. With 3 beds in 1 tiny room I felt like I was in camp. You should be ok with the foodstamps income level but just apply and see what they tell you. Crossing my fingers for you.

I am just excited to feel him/her kick and move (we have choosen not to find out the sex) In my ultrasound "baby" was kicking and dancing. My husband is dead set on a boy, his mother is too, so is my dad. However a bunch of my friends and other family are dead set its a girl. (Old wifes theories) I had an extremely strong heartbeat at only 7 weeks. I cant help cry every time i see our little one. after three years of trying.. its so hard to believe we are, so when i see it in real life( ultrasound) I cant help but cry.

Thank you! I currently dont work, since I moved from wisconsin to alaska, just under three months ago for my husbands job. He still has a job but is laid off for the winter. And due to some reason we have to collect wisconsin unemployment which is like three times less than what unemployment is here is alaska. Alaska also is ridiculous in expensive. I pay $900 in rent (which is a steal here, most rents are well into the thousands) but I do pay utilities. With Wisconsin unemployment I think we get the max which is 360 per week, so i will est. 1400 a month income. but with rent alone taking out of it, we are left with 500 to last the month and also pay our cell phone(cant get out of it/ 2 year contract :(, cable, internet, and house phone- which i refuse to get rid of , well cable i can but not the others. Internet is the only way i can see my family, and house phone. our cell phones suck here since i am out in the woods. all together, we end up having like maybe $50 dollars or less to buy groceries for the months. :( I looked up the income test for food stamps and we are good to go, however, I dont know if i did the calculations right, but we might only get $100.00 per month (anything is better than nothing) with the WIC, food stamps and possibly finding a pantry to go to once a month, we should be okay until the winter passes and we can afford everything again. This economy and life in general takes a big **** on us sometimes.!

I saw this and had to comment. I had a great well paying job with benefits, was with my boyfriend for 8 years and really didnt have to worry about anything. While pregnant I was let go when the company closed, finally got the courage to leave my emotionally abusive BF and I am now a single mother of 2 girls.
Never in my life did I think I would need state assistance and honestly I used to look down on girls that did. But wow when life takes an unexpected turn you do what you have to do to makes ends meet and survive. I am on WIC and I receive food stamps. I am working in my fathers business and I have to take my girls to work with me everyday. I am the only one supporting my girls and myself. I  in no way plan on being on WIC and foodstamps long term but I have to right now. People do abuse the system but their are many families that desperately need this help so do not feel bad.
Now to answer your questions. I live in NJ (not sure where you live) For WIC the unborn child counts as a family member as well as your husband and you can get it even though your married. While pregnant I got quite a few checks a month including a couple gallons of milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, bread, beans. When the baby is born you will get checks for yourself (if you are breastfeeding you can get checks up to 1 year) and for the baby. This includes formula is you don't breastfeed and baby food when they turn 6 months and juice. Not sure of your income but WIC is more flexible then food stamps.

For foodstamps you can look it up online and it will give you a table of income levels. For me it took up to 30 days to be approved and I was assigned a caseworker who can answer questions. GOOD LUCK!
