Ill be nearly 15 weeks on my 20th and will definitely not be drinking. I couldnt live with myself. I drank in my last pregnancy (didnt have a clue i was pregnant and it was over xmas and new year) and i lost my baby. I hate myself so much for that and i didnt even know. If i conciously drank i would.never forgive myself. I wont risk my baby, its everything to me now.
I used to work with fetal alcohol syndrome kids and babies...some of them were worse off than the crack-addicted babies we had. Which is why although some of my friends have tried to get me to take a drink here and there while pregnant, I'm not even interested. After having seen the possible effect, it's just not worth that second or minute of celebration. They really don't know how much alcohol is safe, or when in the pregnancy it can have an effect. And although one woman might get away with it and be okay, that doesn't mean it's going to be true for you and your baby.
Honestly you're only pregnant for 40 weeks and I just wouldn't risk the babys health even if the risks are small, of anything was wrong with your baby no matter whether alcohol caused it or not you would feel guilty. I was sick when my last daughter was born and when she was 5 days old she developed RSV and I still feel like that was my fault, she spent a lot of her first year in and out of the hospital because of it.
I thought I abt that as well. I just hear so many different stories and opinions.
I wouldn't do it, I just celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary last weekend and my hubby took me out of town and got us a romantic suite with champagne for him and he bought me sparkling cider it looks like champagne and even has a lot of bubbles.
This is just out of curiosity, I dnt want to harm my child
I work with people who suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome, and while one glass of wine probably isn't going to harm your baby, there is absolutely no known "safe" amount of alcohol. I wouldn't risk it with my baby.
Personally, I don't feel that any alcoholic beverage is safe during pregnancy. I definitely think you should ask your doctor what he/she thinks about having a glass of wine. Yes, I've known women who have drank a glass of wine here and there and had no ill effects. But, just because one person had a good outcome doesn't mean you will.
That first trimester is very critical! im glad your gonna run it by your Dr first... i personally wouldnt take the risk tho, so much is going on inside you and your baby is developing like crazy! i think if you find some other option for a drink, there are lots if non alcohilic beverages that are yummy! and have a nice meal :) alcohol isnt needed to have fun, and just imagine if you did harm your baby...i dont think you could live with yourself, i couldnt anyway! Congrats and take care :)
Our wedding anniversary is Feb 29 so we want to celebrate too! We've decided to splurge on going to a very unique restaurant we might never otherwise try. As such, we're focusing on the food and the experience of the place rather than getting a nice bottle of wine with dinner.
That being said, I did have a small glass of wine on Valentine's day the other day - I took over an hour to drink it. I am 25 weeks. I personally have stayed VERY far away from alcohol during my first trimester with both this and my last pregnancy because I had wicked food aversions that included alcohol until 14 weeks and 17 weeks.
From what I know they tell you not to drink at all in the first trimester. Later in pregnancy, like the 3rd trimester some will say its ok to have a little wine, a small glass--emphasis on a small glass. I am 33W and have had a total of a 1/4 glass of wine spread out, I'll just have a sip or two of my husbands here and there.
You dont have to drink to do something big. You have the biggest thing in your life right now inside you. Not trying to sound mean. I personally wouldnt drink anything. I know there will always be people who say they did and everything turned out perfectly fine. But if it's not needed why chance it? I was just always scared that the one drink could harm my lil one inside and that was enough for me. Trust me, i've missed 3 birthday, 3 anniversaries, and 3 new years eve's with nothing to drink. But knowing that I did all I could to ensure I had safe, healthy babies was more important. Good luck!
Leap year. February 29 only comes ever four years.
Why does your birthday only come once every four years?"
Thank guys, I have my first doctor visit tomorrow so ill ask my doctor. I was just wondering to be safe.
I drank at least once in my pregnancies my baby came out good..and some women drink in the beginning without even knowing they're pregnant and the babies came out fine..jus dnt drink too much ..
I will still be pregnant on my 21st birthday and I'm not drinking anything. My doctor says the red wine thing is a myth any alcohol during pregnancy is potentially dangerous.
Ill be 26 wks on my 23rd bday & im def havin a glass of wine.. ive actually heard its healthy to have a glass of wine here & there throughout ur pregnancy.. red wine tho. But heyyy wine is wine ;)
Any alcohol in the first trimester is dangerous. Try a sparkling Apple juice instead. Bday may only come every 4 years but your baby is once in a life time
It's ur choice but ur first 12 weeks are critical for your baby, I found out I was pregnant which was planned and I'm now due in 4 days n haven't drank for over 8 months
