I have prostate cancer. My former urologist took only one biopsy in five years. He finally referred me to another clinic. There they did a biopsy and because of my age (82) decided that hormone shots to the abdomen might be best. I received four shots each three months apart. My PSA dropped dramatically. It dropped from 15.2 to .07 where it is right now. At my last visit the urologist decided not to see me again for six months. According to him I may never receive treatment again because by the time my PSA rises to 10 .0 it could be many years. So, for me, the panacea was hormone treatments.
I negelected to mention that my brother had brachitherapy (implantation of radio active seeds) and is faring quite well. He had the procedure about six years ago and his PSA is below 1.0. So there are a number of procedures that could work. I put hormone treatments and brachytherapy at the top of the list.
