ct scan vs x ray report differentiation?

I had a ct scan in June 15 of 2016 for shortness of breathe and stated atelectasis & a 2.5 mm pleural based lung nodule of no clinical significance, the results stated unremarkable ct scan of the chest, no acute process.

Then in November 1st of 2016
I had am xray which showed everything normal except this final report:pathcy opacity in the right infrahilar region with I'll defined pulmonary vasculature.finding may represent focus of atelectasis or in the right clinical setting.developing consolidation. My question is can lung nodules show up on xrays? I know it showed on ct scan, but why is my xray different from the ct scan? Any help will not be overlooked
