kidney

I am an adopted 43 year old female with flanking chronic pain on the left side.  Have been diagnosed with HBP, blood in urine and high protein in urine.  Also have had a recent ultra sound on kidney and bladder and shows the right kidney has several syct and a fatty tumor on it.  I am undergoing another ultra sound in three months.  Being adopted I have no family history, so I guess my question is what are the chances of PKD or should I be looking at other kidney diseases or other disease altogether that may be causing my symptoms.

I am a type 1 diabetic and have been having pain in my right hip and leg. I was told by my endocrinologist to re check recent blood tests that indicated my creatinine levels were high. Could this right flank pain be coming from my kidney function. I am on medicare  so I don't know if they will pay for more blood work yet.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
how are you? Were you able to have your follow-up ultrasound done last January? How are the results? Other possible inherited kidney diseases that should be checked are  Alport Syndrome;  Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease; Medullary Sponge Kidney; and  Medullary Cystic Disease. Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease accounts for 8-10 percent and diagnosis is  usually suspected in those with an affected family members, those with clinical complains compatible with ADPKD, and those in whom multiple cysts are found incidentally during renal or abdominal imaging. Take care and do keep us posted.
