They are bad.. And my boyfriend didn't even seem to notice them, he was too involved with watching the game. I think I bugged him a little when I kept asking what the noise was. haha. I still do watch the games with him though, it's funny to watch him get all crazy excited about his teams doing well.

this is a kinda funny thread to me because it was sort of the opposite when my husband and I first started dating..I grew up in a family that's CRAZY about college football. my parents both attended the same university, my dad WORKS at the university, and now my husband does too...and it's also the university I graduated from. SO needless to say, when college football season rolls around we are all REALLY into it. my husband really WAS NOT when we first started dating, but he's come around now and we have a lot of fun but we only watch the one team's games unless there's a big bowl game coming up or a rivalry that looks worth watching....so *I* was the one originally getting whined at about watching football all the time, lol.

I agree though just be honest with it annoys you is all you can do...otherwise just sigh and say "men!"...my DH's biggest "manly" fault is his love of fishing...I would give ANYthing for him to prefer sitting at home on the couch to going out fishing all day but only because now that we have a toddler...I can't go fishing with him and I LOVE to fish. I guess I'm kind of weird.

oh and specialmom--- it peeves DH that I can call penalties before they're announced just by where the ref throws the flag...he's always trying to beat me to the punch and he doesn't know that much about football so he's usually wrong. I've learned to keep my mouth shut so I don't damage his manly image, LOL

That is funny.  I joke that part of our marriage vows was that he got ownership of the remote control.  He always just grins at me but doesn't hand over the remote.  I'm glad you don't mind.  I get annoyed sometimes to be honest and at that point, I just speak up.  My favorite thing to do is get involved in a bowl pool or a March Madness pool(big here in the US).  I make all my decisions based on team mascots and colors and out of over 500 people I got second place a year ago in a bowl pool.  Won some big dollars!  Husband was very impressed but a little distraught at my criteria for picking teams being so successful.

I'm not a sports nut . . . but I have learned to like certain aspects, games and teams.  One thing my husband does that helps hold my interest is he tells me of the good stories about a team or player.  Those personal stories that pull at your heart strings.  Then I start rooting for that player or team and have more of an interest.  Just an idea.

I understand the frustration. My boyfriend is obsessed with soccer, so he is in soccer heaven with the world cup going on. I like sports, but with him talking about it all the time, it does get old. I gave him a look yesterday when he kept going on and on about it and he realized I was bored out of my mind, so he stopped. I was a bit surprised that it only took a look for him to stop, but it worked. haha. Usually I would have to say something. Like what specialmom said tell him you want some couple time. He can always record the game and watch it later. He can take some time to spend some with you. good luck.

I have the same problem with my husband.  He has season tickets to his favorite football team where we live, so majority of sunday's are spent there during the season with his dad.  Then of course there is baseball where he goes to several games and watches on TV.  When both of those are not enough their is basketball...lol.  I never had an issue with it and love going to the games even though I don't like sports I like the parties outside while tailgating... I never want to go in.  I would say compromise.  Tell him you would love to try to enjoy his sports with him, and in turn have him do things with you that you love.  I only recently began having a problem with all of this time he spends because we are expecting our first baby any time, and we both work all week.  I told him "sorry, but weekends are for family not for your obession."  He traded a lot of his tickets, and next year plans on taking his son with him.  We will see how that works...lol (with a one year old).

That's one thing dh and I have in common. We're both complete sports nuts. I was rather disappointed when hockey ended. :o( I have an enormous obsession with the Pittsburgh Penguins. I love football (I live in Pittsburgh...98% of the female population loves football) so I'd probably be strung up in market square if I wasn't a fan. lol. Which yes I do still LOVE big ben as a player...not so much as a person. BUT he's paid to be a quarter back...and I am glad that the Rooney's and the league didn't cut him slack for being a complete jagoff and I'm glad he's getting the therapy and changing his life.

My husband is a sports nut.  I tell him when I've had enough.  Ask your husband for a break from the sport and could you please have some "couple" time and see what he says.  I think setting a boundary and communicating about it can help.  good luck
