heavychest/shallow breathing only when sitting in evening?

I've been getting this for a couple years since starting a desk job.

It hits in the evening when I'm sitting down, even for a little while. Also, only at this this time I easily nod off even if not tired. My just gets full feeling, I get severe air thirst, either can't stop yawning or feel like I need to and can't, and sometimes one ear gets full feeling.

Getting up and moving around slowly alleviates it eventually, but sometimes certain foods like a couple handfuls of popcorn alleviates it.

It's not low blood sugar, this can happen even if I had a meal a couple hours prior, though it's more common when I eat light.

It's always at the same time of night too. If I sit too much earlier or later, it doesn't happen.

I have no idea what this is, but it is always the same time of evening when relaxed. Could it be some sort of metabolic or thyroid issue?

The doctor just cites anxiety and left it at that, and usually I had previously felt perfectly content. I know I wake up with a pretty low pulse rate many times in the morning, but don't get these symptoms then.

I don't know what section this belongs in, sorry.

Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. Thanks for your question, we appreciate it.  We are glad you saw your doctor. Remember that if you are not satisfied with their initial discussion with you, you should continue to pursue answers. This can include seeing them again to re evaluate or seeing a different doctor for a second opinion.  We think this is your best course of action.

This, however, could be the result of anxiety or in the very least, health anxiety that involves thinking that since you don't feel your best that it is something serious.

There are many reasons for fatigue and this article has a very large list https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/fatigue/basics/causes/sym-20050894

Even things like anemia can cause this.  Have you had any blood work done?

With regards to ear fullness and dizziness, there is a virus called labyrinthitis, however, this would be unlikely to just happen at one block of time during the day. But our inner ear can have issue that cause this like Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Our suggestion is to follow up with your doctor to look for more answers with some of the ideas of what could be going on in the article.  Blood work to look at your thyroid function, vitamin levels or deficiencies, etc. may be useful.  And you've written in the respiratory forum so perhaps your oxygen levels as well would be wise to get checked.
