have you seen a doctor.. blood in mucus is normaly from coughing so much.. i get pneumonia about 3 times a year and it always happines to me.. first time it happined i thought i was dieing and tfo'd and went to emerg and they laughed at me.. if you can taste infection its mostlikely a sinus infection.. whitch will cause chest congestion.. whitch will make you cough and your teeth hurt and your ears hurt and give you headaches.. lol if you dont have thoese symptoms it could be pneumonia.. if the mucus is orange or green and you have not yet gone to the doctor i would go.. if its yellow or light green its viral and they cant do anything take advil and try and sleep.. feel better soon

If the mucus is very bloody, you should consider going to an ER or urgent care faicility.  If there are just spots, or streaks call your doctor in the morning and talk to them.  They may want you to come in, but they may just call in an antibiotic over the phone.  The first time I coughed up blood my GP called in the script without seeing me.  The second time I had just started antibiotics from my asthma doctor and and my GP just said it was good that I needed the antibotics.

You really do need to see a doctor as the blood is a sign of a serious infection at best.  That type of infection can cause lung damage.  So get it taken care of.
