Wheezing after a bout of severe bronchitis

I am 40 year old woman. A few months ago I had severe bronchitis that eventually went away. However, now I have intermittent wheezing, fatigue and sometimes shoulder pain. I have never had any wheezing in my life ever before. Could this be serious?

Thanks,

Several thoughts.

First, wheezing can be common with a bout of severe bronchitis.  It can just take a while to clear up.

Second, adult onset asthma is frequently triggered by a virus.  You should have this checked by your doctor to rule this out.

Either way, a trip to your doctor could be very helpful.  Inhalers are frequentl used to treat lingering affects of bronchits.  So, don't be surprised if you come home with one or two either way.

Take care and feel better.

Wheezing could be due to some of the secretions are still trying to come out, wheezing is like wind there a closed window. The space in your airway is smaller either due to secretions or restriced airway(asthma). Usually a good cough and or taking an inhaler will open that airway back up. This is very common. Drink plenty of water to make sure the secretions are thin enough to cough up. Hope this helps
