Hi There!
I'm wondering if anybody else here suffering from sinus congestion.
Mine is going back for years I've seen several ENTs, one was convinced that my blocked nose was due to dust mite allergy. So he performed a surgery, a middle turbinate reduction, it was in 2010. and prescribed the usual stuff, costeroid spray. The surgery didn't make the slightest improvement, nor the spray didn't help. That genius ENT told me then to move to a different climate, because it was hot tropical climate and dust mites thrive in that environment. So I moved. (he could have suggested that before the surgery)
And that was actually the only thing which helped somewhat, but my nose still get congested especially at night, When I sleep the lower side always gets blocked, but sometimes both. Not as bad as before in that humid hot climate,- that time I was so blocked that I could hardly breath!!! -but bad enough to wake me up at night.
During the day it's more or less ok, but gets a bit stuffy too at times.
I have recently spent a few month in Europe, was cold winter, and now I am living in Australia in a dryer climate. And the congestion never fully goes away. Not in Europe, not here, and my guess if I was on the top of mount Everest it would be exactly the same.
So my guess is, that it has nothing to do with allergies, dust mites, but with the nerves and the blood vessels. They say that the blood vessels loose the ability to retract and one symptom is that one side gets blocked at night.
They also make a comparison to Varicose veins. But that one is easily treatable. So really, can't understand that this vasomotor rhinitis - (just a name they made up for "I don't have the slightest clue on what's going on")- has no cure.
Maybe it's because only those who suffer from it know how awful it can be living all the time with blocked or stuffy nose. It's not a deadly disease, so why would they care.
I read some older posts about this, but wondering if since then there was any new stuff available which could help.
What's your experience? Any one got any help?
