Why do I involuntarily gasp for breath while awake?

I'm a 59 year old woman who has started to randomly and for no apparent reason, gasp for breath. It comes out of nowhere and disappears as quickly as it comes. I've recently discovered that I may have been suffering with side effects from Prolia injections for osteoporosis that's caused some weird bites/blisters/scarring on my forearms so I've discontinued taking it but the skin issues continue. I'm wondering, could the gasping somehow  be related? In fairness, let me just add that it's taken 1-1/2 years to discover the Prolea/skin issue connection on my own, despite continued appointments with my primary care doctor (she said sarcastically) who continued to blow it off and insist it was just "old lady skin spots." I have those too, and these aren't remotely the same. These begin like a very itchy mosquito bite, then blister, then dry into a leathery-like scar in a whole Smorgasbord of different colors, shapes and sizes. The "Specialist" I went to for osteoporosis and suggested Prolia was "just shocked" about my side  effects, which I found online. I emailed her since I'd traveled so far for her expertise and high regard. As I sit here in tears again and vacillate between disappointment in myself for not doing my own due diligence in advance and trusting she did her own, anger because when I presented the initial problem with lesions several times I was ignored and lastly, futility as I'm not sure I'd even know where to go from here. If for nothing else, I hope this might help someone else looking for answers. Thanks in advance for any input you might be able to share.
