impacted earwax

Is having a doctor do a simple look into your ears with the Otoscope good enough to 100% rule out impacted earwax.   You see I have major problems with dizziness, headaches, full feeling in ears, and tinnitus.  Doc has looked in my ears and never said anything.   Do I have to specifically ask them to check for earwax?    I used to clean my ears with cotton swabs (mistake i know), so I was wondering if I might have caused  some deeply impacted wax they can't see?

You might want to consider the possibility that your ear fullness is being cause by a form of acid reflux called by a variety of names - including supra-esophageal reflux. This is usually diagnosed by an Ear Nose & Throat specialist via symptom analysis or more accurate medical test like 24-hour dual probe testing. Reflux washing up past your esophageous can cause or contribute to many problems. Before medications brought my reflux under control I had a hoarse throat, felt like I was swallowing over a small bone in my throat, and had sporadic issues with my right ear (fullness feeling) as you describe.

Observing ear wax is fairly easy looking into the ears with an otoscope.  The procedure allows you to see all the way to the ear drum.
