Amen! Pete.  Every time I look into the eyes of my beautiful granddaughter, I am glad that finally after 30 years, of excuses, and a fev of 65 myself.  That train has left the station, and I'm now gonna get into the Barbie Jeep with my Kennerbaby!  And Nana is never looking back.  I want to live!

how long do you do the allergy shots for?  I wonder if I have COPD, I have bad asthma and can't exhale and prednisone doesn't help that.  I take spiriva and symbicort and don't smoke.  I got a diagnosis of sleep apnea from a sleep lab sleep test

Yes sir you are brave
thanks for your input. I quit smoking 40 years ago however I had asthma that was killing me .I took allergy shots which reversed the asthma back then in 1977. So that was quite an incentive to quit . Funny thing or not so funny. I now have copd, the odd thing is I do better taking 10/325 Norco which one would think not good for the lungs?. I also have reiters syndrome a form of arthritis. I am 73 and hangin' in there. thank you all for the greetings.

I guess I'm posting this 'cuz it's almost 4 in the morning and I'm scared.  I was diagnosed with "onset" of COPD years ago.  Acted like it wasn't any big deal.  Quit smoking for 10 months and in the middle of stress and a fight with my husband, lit up again.  Last year I finally quit smoking with the assistance of Chantax,  Not one cig since June 18th 2010.  But in the meantime continued to smoke pot.  Coughing, coughing and coughing.  In the last few months my breathing has become so bad that if I dive into a pool by the time I surface I need to get out of the water and breathe!  I went for a CT scan and a lung function test.  Pulmonary here (PA) is so backed up I've been waiting for an appointment since June. Dr. called Thursday evening (never a good sign) and gave me the news.  The big E.  My daughter just went to college a month ago.  My boy is 16.  My divorce will be final soon.  Really, when they say on life expectency..4 years, is that what they mean??  I can't find anywhere that says "you may be dead in 4 years".  Of course I haven't seen doc yet or pulminary so I'm just freaking out and rambling.  I am scared.  I'm a 55 year old woman that has smoked for 45 years.  I also worked in all aspects of construction so I'm sure cigs were not the only cause.  I'm a "tough" chick, really not a lot of people I can say the words "I'm scared" to.  So, that's why I'm here at 4 a.m., to say I'm f n scared.  Good luck to all of you.  Live you last like it is your last.  Don't be bitter.  Be kind.  Leave the planet a better person.  Peace to you!

i have copd and emphysema and have been in and out of the hospital at least seven times because of it, i was first diagnosed with a mild case of emphysema back in the middle 90's. my family and doctors have warned me time and time again that i better quit smoking but i didn't listen.after my latest stay in the hospital  my doctors told me i have no more chances  that i need to quit now.or i will be dead in a year or less. he put me on chantix and i smoked 9 weeks into the medication then one day i noticed i only had 2 ciggarettes left in my pack and said i need to go buy some,i stopped myself and said i keep saying i'm going to quit after the next pack,so i told myself the next pack will lead to another and another and i will never quit,so if your going to quit you better do it now so i smoked those last 2 and that was the end of smoking and haven't had one in almost 4 months.i'm on oxygn 24/7 ,i can't walk far and can't climb steps because i get too winded my stomach is always bloated from the copd , when i get to winded and can't catch up i go into panic attacks,my kitchen counter looks like a pharmacy,i've had pnumonia 7 times. if you haven't quit smoking quit now before you get like me and millions of other people.what i go through every day i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.it would make me happy if i could make a difference in just one persons life, preferably more but at least one.if you don't have copd or emphysema you could live a long and normal life but don't wait till you get it to quit.i hope i was of some help to you and good luck
