Should have mentioned - the above study mentioned high numbers of TTV virus found in semen and saliva? Really worried that, not only I might have caught TTV through kissing, but I might now have infected my wife, and therefore my kid. Please get back to me on this Doctor and I'm really starting to worry...
This is enough! I think that I have been perfectly clear in my previous e-mails. All these virueses are related and they are mainly only transmitted through blood transfusions. In any case they do not have any serious clincial implications in humans.
This is the end of this thread.
PLEASE NO MORE E-MAILS AND NO MORE POST AS I WILL NOT REPLY!!!
Regards,
Dr José
Regarding Hepatitis G/GBV-C - how easy is it to transmit sexually, generally? Is this something that is transmitted sexually easily, or is it something limited to Blood Transfusions and Intravenous Drug Use?
And to re-iterate, the following viruses TTV, TTV Like Mini Virus (TLMV), TTV Like Midi Virus (TTMDV), SEN, SEN-V, YONBAN, SANBAN (which I think are TT related) and other such viruses would you say are limited to Blood Transfusions, and cannot be transmitted sexually?
That's it - final question.... No more now... Awaiting your response eagerly...
Sorry - was ranting a bit in my previous posts.... My final corrected post on the subject is here....
To summarise - are you saying it's impossible for me, with my history, to have caught TTV, TTV Like Mini Virus (TLMV), TTV Like Midi Virus (TTMDV), SEN, SEN-V, YONBAN, SANBAN (which I think are TT related) and other such viruses because of my history?
Are these only transmitted via Blood Transfusion?
More importantly, with my history, would you say that I would not have caught any of them?
And Hepatitis G/GBV-C - I believe you've confirmed in my case - impossible for me to have caught considering my history...?
These are all the viruses I know about from reading the Internet - no more reading the Internet now, that much I can assure you - caused me nothing but concern and worry.
Sorry - was ranting a bit in my previous posts.... My final post on the subject is here....
To summarise - are you're saying it's virtually impossible for me, with my history, to have caught TTV, TTV Like Mini Virus (TLMV), TTV Like Midi Virus (TTMDV), SEN, SEN-V, YONBAN, SANBAN (which I think are TT related) and other such viruses because of my history?
Is it highly unlikely to transmit all of these unless via Blood Transfusion?
More importantly, with my history, would you say it's unlikely I would have caught any of them?
And Hepatitis G/GBV-C - I believe you've confirmed in my case - practically impossible considering my history...?
These are all the viruses I know about from reading the Internet - no more reading the Internet now, that much I can assure you - caused me nothing but concern and worry.

Forgot to add - as well as TTV Like Mini Virus (TLMV) and TTV Like Midi virus (TTMDV), do viruses such as SEN, SEN-V, YONBAN, SANBAN etc. (which I think are TT viruses - not sure though) also fall into the category of being transfusion transmitted, and would you say, with my sexual history that I would have unlikely to have caught these viruses?
These are all the viruses I know of which I've been exposed to when reading the Internet, and I now refuse to surf the Internet now for health related reasons. If you could please confirm the above, then all my concerns and worries will be gone for good....
Awesome - Thank You Doctor - I feel a LOT better now...
Finally, I probably don't need to ask, but just thought I would just to totally get rid of any doubt and possible chance of any anxiety lurking around because of what I've read, but I take it it's the same case for this TTV like Mini-Virus (TLMV) and TTV like Midi viruses (TTMDV) as well? With my history, would you also say it's unlikely I would have caught these viruses as well?
I would say it is the same, practically impossible in your case.
As mentioned before, these virueses have little clinical significance in humans and that is why they are not tested routinely.
Please forget it and move on!
Best wishes,
Dr José
That was what I was hoping you would say.
Would you say the same for GBV-C/Hepatitis G as well? Would you say, with my sexual history it's unlikely I would have caught this for the same reason as well?
Thank You so much Doctor - you have basically eliminated pretty much all of my worries... How hard/easy is it to catch GBV-C/Hepatitis G? Just would like to know if, with my history, if I could have caught GBV-C?
It is highly unlikely to transmit these viruses other than through blood transfusions. Looking at your sexual history, I would think that it is virtually impossible for yout to have contracted them anyway.
In any case, as mentioned before, these viruses are not considered to be harmful for humans in case of infection.
Kind regards,
Dr José
Basically, before I met my girlfriend I wasn't very confident sexually, and I did suffer a lot from erectile dysfunction issues...
So, I'm thinking, because of my past sexual experiences - more like failures actually, (which wasn't very wonderful - 3-4 previous encounters of unprotected straight sex, which didn't last very long - a few seconds perhaps or 5 seconds then I would go all limp and floppy, not even going to climax), and issues of erectile dysfunction at the time, does that make it virtually impossible for me to catch any of these viruses ie., TT, SEN, GBV-C etc. in this case?
Although I did catch a couple of bugs (Chlamidia I think, they didn't say) which they gave me antibiotics to deal with the infection. And one time, I had spots on the shaft on my penis (not Herpes), I think it was Molluscum Contagon, which after a few months disappeared. Hopefully this doesn't mean I would have caught the above viruses TT, SEN, GBV-C etc.
Although Doctor, are you saying there's no risk of getting the above viruses TT, SEN, GBV-C sexually anyway - just through Blood Transfusions and Intravenous Drug Use?
By the way, I'm my girlfriend's first love, so there's no way I'd catch any of those viruses from her.
If these viruses are only caught via transfusion or intravenous drug use, then I'm thinking, in my case the risk is hopefully non-existant because my past sexual experiences weren't very successful. I'm guessing for the above viruses there has to be a certain amount of blood transmission, probably not relevant in this case?
Out of these 3 or 4 times I did have unprotected sex, I was diagnosed with a STD, or the clinic's words, a couple of bugs. This was dealt with by Antibiotics.....
I suppose, even though there's no clinical significance to these viruses, I just need to know if my sexual past (which wasn't very wonderful - 3-4 previous encounters of unprotected straight sex, which didn't last very long - a few seconds before I went limp, not even going to climax) is enough for my to catch these TT viruses, GBV/C and SEN viruses, or does the 'act' need to be much prolonged and more vigourous...
Can I just ask some final question, and that will be the end of it. You said the TT viruses are Transfusion Transmitted or Intravenous Drug users only, therefore nothing for me to worry about.
You said the viruses I mentioned are mainly transfusion transmitted? Are there some that aren't? Are there any which are sexually transmitted? I guess, for me this is the BIG question - are these viruses able to spread sexually?
However, what about the Hepatitis SEN virus? Is that transmitted by Transfusion / Intravenous Drug Users only as well, or could this be transmitted from casual sex?
Just that I read that there were some strains of SEN which could cause Hepatitis...?
Thanks Doctor - hope you can reply to this. I suppose to summarise, my main question is - could these viruses be spread sexually? In my case, 3-4 previous encounters of unprotected straight sex, which didn't last very long - a few seconds before I went limp, not even going to climax... What are my chances of catching these TTV / GBV-C / SEN etc. viruses?
Still quite worried thinking about this.
Hi Doctor, thanks for your prompt response - much appreciated..
I totally agree with you in that searching the Internet without sufficient knowledge, in my case has only caused great worry, panic and distress.
I'm so glad you've responded and re-assured me in that there is absolutely nothing for me to worry about whatsoever... I suspect much of this guilt from a wild past, as well as nervousness of becoming a new Dad. However your words have reassured me. I'm just going to save future searches for learning how to be a great Dad, and learning how to change nappies!
Thank You so much for your reassurance Doctor - I really do appreciate it, and knowing that I don't have to worry about anything now means I can focus on the future now.... Thank You and God Bless You Doctor...
Hello,
Listen, this is completley absurd! You are worrying totally unnecessarily about something that is toally irrelevant. I think that you are spending too much time reading the internet. To be honest, none of these viruses have any important clinical significance. As mentioned before, you should stop searchin the internet without having enough knowledge about this matter. There are millions of viruses out there and the viruses that you mention are not considered to be harmful in humans anyway. Their significane is mainly related to research and not for clinical purposes. As the name indicates (TT), they are mainly transfusion transmitted, and there is no evidence that any of them would cause any harm in humans.
Honestly you should stop this nonsense! There is no reason for you to worry at all whatosever.
Kind regards,
Dr José
Also, I remember seeing a study that TTV virus is supposedly present in saliva, supposedly in high numbers as well. Does that mean that TTV etc. can be transmitted by kissing now as well, or is it not high enough to actually cause an infection?
Please get back to me Doctor as I'm starting to panic a bit now, and finding it harder to resist trawling the net for information.......
I just wanted to add - I've learnt my lesson - I will not be doing any more searches on the Internet, as you quite rightly pointed out, it's caused me nothing but more grief, concern and worry...
I just want to move on, forget my past and focus on being the best Dad I can be. I'm just worried my past will catch up on me. There's been some stuff on the net about some of these viruses ie. Hep G/GBV-C, TT Virus, SEN etc. could be transmitted sexually. Other sites only mentioned transmission of these viruses by blood transfusion and intravenous drug use. The thought of me passing on these viruses to my girlfriend, and my new baby, makes me sick with worry and guilt....
I'm just holding onto the fact of what you said previously that the viruses I asked about in my previous post are transmitted by blood transfusion and intravenous drug use and not by sexual contact. I'm hoping this is true for all of the above viruses, and that I have not caught any of these things ie. HGV/GBV-C, TTV, SEN, TT Mini and Midi virus etc... I was also really worried about the study that showed women who had TTV in their cervical swabs - as I'm worried I could contract it this way? Or am I wrong, and that the only way is via Blood Transfusion and Intravenous Drug use?
However, I've also learnt that there is also a lot of misinformation on the Internet as well, which is why, for me, your response will be the final answer as I believe you're a respected authority in this field...
Looking forward to hearing from you... Sorry for the repeat post but I just want to destroy any remaining fears I have and look foward to the future as a family man. I'm hoping you can help me...
