Am I still contagious?

I got molluscum when I was 16 or 17 as an STD. Both my partner and I were treated immediately (during the overall outbreak stage, I had about 10 bumps). We had them frozen off. My outbreak stage lasted about 6 to 12 months (I would have one show up just as soon as I thought they were ALMOST gone). After my partner and I separated, I decided to stay abstinent because I did not want to impose this on anyone else, and I didn't want any of my friends finding out. Now that I am 21, I have not had ANY bumps for a couple years now, even when I shave the area (which used to irritate the MCV and cause more bumps).

Am I still contagious?

I have had trouble finding information about the statistics that show any kind of information about whether or not it can still be passed even years after the virus seems to be gone. Most sites I read say you cant pass it on after MCV has healed, but I would feel more comfortable reading personal testimonials.

I also have scarring due to the freezing removal method that was used. I tried Mederma, but it has not done anything. It kind of looks like I have skin tags or something, and it is very unattractive. And I cannot wear bathing suits because of it.

Would you suggest laser or plastic surgery for the scars?

You aren't contagious any longer.  Check www.ashastd.org for some good info on MCV.

I don't know about the scarring - maybe the dermatology forum can help.
