Can you catch an STD from dried semen?

Very odd question-my significant other works in a bank and recently a coworker of hers was caught on camera well, pleasing himself in shoes left behind by women. He has a foot fetish. He had to report he had a type of herpes and is being checked for HPV. I’m wondering if my soon to be wife should be checked? Nobody knows how long he’s been doing this and chances are she wore shoes exposed to it countless times for entire work days. I know most STD’s don’t live outside the body but the guy even had a type of Hepatitis B in his past.. any thoughts?

Poor dude got caught pleasuring himself with some stranger woman's shoes left behind?  Trying to picture that and that had to be embarrassing for everyone involved.  And they worry he could get herpes from her left behind shoes?  That is a really big stretch by itself.  In fact, I doubt some lady out shoe shopping had active herpes of the foot.  Honestly, I'm not even sure what you are implying.  How is your wife involved in having contact with this?  She WEARS the shoes of the women who left them behind?  And she'd put them on if they had a big load of semen on them since you say he doesn't clean up?  And why are women taking shoes off at the bank? I'm just asking because this all is pretty convoluted for what happened, what your mind is conjuring up that could happen and how it would affect your wife in any way.

Maybe the coworker had to disclose because that poor woman was coming back to claim her left behind shoes (again, why are shoes being taken off and left behind at a bank . . .   very odd.  Even at a shoe store, that would be an odd practice to leave your shoes).

I wouldn't worry about your wife.  It's safe to ask questions here even if the response is that this doesn't really make logical sense so glad you asked if you were wondering and hope you accept the answer that you are WAY over thinking and should move on.

My questioning of the proposed situation is about as confusing as the proposed situation.  I mean, the guy giving the owner of the shoes herpes or the woman who was wearing the shoes having herpes is all a huge stretch and unlikely.  Really.
I think you misunderstand. My soon to be wife works for the bank here in town, they have to dress up. Many women hate heels but wear them for work so leave them under the desks or stations when they leave. This guy also worked at the bank and took the shoes of nearly every woman there into the bathroom and jerked off into them. He was finally caught doing it on camera and confessed my lady was one of the women’s he did it the most in. He is facing minor charges and losing his job obviously. So the women were unaware as he was the late night janitor when everyone was gone. By morning it was dry I’m assuming.
And the guy had HPV and Hep B in the past
Yes, I DID misunderstand.  Was really struggling with your story.  That's a bad fetish this dude has, right?  He'd have to have genital herpes (hsv2) showing symptoms on his feet. This is beyond extremely rare.  While there may be a couple cases in history, it's not at all likely.  I'd pay for your lady to have a nice manicure, buy some new shoes and try to forget it.
The guy was ejaculating into her shoes, I’m asking if contact skin to dried semen can cause something, not herpes, HPV and Hepatitis are both carried in bodily fluids.
As far as HPV of the foot, ya. THAT doe happen and is very common. They are called plantar warts.  You've probably heard of those and never realized that was an HPV virus.  HPV really encompasses all warts and warts are contagious. Great news though, this particular type of HPV is NOT easily transmitted person to person.  Lots of people have these and not from wearing shoes some maniac janitor had sex with.  Here's information on plantar wart  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/plantar-warts/symptoms-causes/syc-20352691  If your wife develops a plantar wart or any of these symptoms:
A small, fleshy, rough, grainy growth (lesion) on the bottom of your foot, usually the base of the toes and forefoot or the heel
Hard, thickened skin (callus) over a well-defined "spot" on the skin, where a wart has grown inward
Black pinpoints, which are commonly called wart seeds but are actually small, clotted blood vessels
A lesion that interrupts the normal lines and ridges in the skin of your foot
Pain or tenderness when walking or standing

Then she should see her doctor.  But again, that could have come from anywhere such as being barefoot in a public place like a locker room or anything like that.

Try not to worry.  My guess is that she is fine although grossed out (and rightfully so).
No, HPV and herpes are not transmitted via semen. Both require direct skin to skin contact, as in direct genital to genital skin.

It doesn't sound as if he was wearing the shoes, but rather masturbating into them while holding them? If that's the case, then no, there's no need to worry about plantar warts or the like.

Hep B isn't a concern because the skin on the soles of the feet is too thick for anything to penetrate (as is most of the skin on our body, except for mucous membranes like our mouths, noses and genitals).

There's no risk for any STD here.

No one ever noticed any stains or fluids or anything on their shoes? This is a strange story.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about here. Assuming the guy cleaned up after himself then nothing would still be alive. Also, never heard of an STD being transmitted through the doors of feet. Nothing to worry about.

Why do people take their shoes off in this bank?

That’s just it, he didn’t. It was part of his kink to leave it all in there at night for the next day.
