Canker sore or something else?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 23 year old female and I've had a very painful yellow sore on the left side of my tongue, slightly towards the back. It's located right on the side - not on the top or bottom side of my tongue. The sore itself isn't huge (maybe less than half the size of a pencil eraser), but the area it is on is swollen enough that it hurts to talk or just move my tongue in general. I've had canker sores before, but I usually get white ones with a red border, and this one is just yellow - definitely secluded but no defined border. Does this sound like it's just a canker sore or does it sound like an STI?

I have had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex with two partners (both of whom have been tested in the last year and were both negative for STDs). I have also been tested about a year ago and I was also negative for STDs. It probably is a tongue ulcer like you said and based on the research I've been doing, but I just felt the need to post this out of paranoia/needing some reassurance... lol

Certainly more like a tongue ulcer than anything else.

Do you have any reason to believe you have been exposed to an STD? If you have had sex with a partner of unknown status and you had unprotected vaginal and oral sex then consider testing. This ulcer is unrelated though in my view.
