Chlamydia & Gonorrhea Question
Hi Dr, I went to a physician after noticing a swollen testicle and they believe it is due to a swollen epididymis. After doing some reading I saw that STI's are the most common cause of such swelling. I had a GF for 4 years however we took a break in March and I have had various unprotected oral sex exposures 5-10 separate times (I receive) since march. Some of this, unfortunately, has been with escorts. I was wondering if my epididymis swelling could be a result of an STI given my exposure. I noticed the swelling last week of June, and I am now in talks on getting back with the original GF as I move back to my home town, therefore would like to be very careful when I can see her again. I took an STI test today but my anxiety on me potentially having an STI is destroying me. I have had no other symptoms as well (no discharge, no pain urinating etc.) Please advise and thank you for the help.

It could be the cause, but there are other causes of epididymitis.

It could be a blockage in the urethra, an enlarged prostate, an e coli infection, an injury, etc.
Have you been on antibiotics recently? If you have, that could skew the test results you took today.
If you have an STD that's causing this, it's one of the curable ones, so at the worst, it's a lesson learned, and you move on, right? Millions and millions and millions of people get an STD each year. If you have one, you won't be alone.
Be careful in the words you chose - you said the anxiety is "destroying you". That's not actually true, right? You aren't being destroyed. There's something called catastrophising.
