Contracting STD's via oral sex - Conflicting Info

Hello and thank you in advance for responding,

I've noticed that most (if not all) of the Doctors in this forum place the risk of contracting STD's via unprotected oral sex (male receiving) very low. Dr. Handsfield (HHH) who seems very well respected and qualified in particular seems to support this position. However when you visit other apparently credible online sites which provide generic (not provided by a particular health care professional) information regarding STD contraction via unprotected oral sex, the opinion seems to be far more conservative, ie they imply that certain STD's can be easily contracted in that manner. Can anyone explain the discrepancy between the sources? Are the generic sites, just being more conservative in order to discourage risky behavior? Not that the doctors on this site are encouraging it.

Thank you again

I'm waiting on test results scared so ice read as much as I can on here.. Chlamydia struggles to live in the mouth but yes to the throat... I'm also unsure of how easy it is to deep throat for the average penis size and you would know in most cases because of the receivers gag reflex.

Three dr on this site, 1 on another plus the PA where I got tested have all said (at least in my case) the likelihood to catch anything is as close to 0 as possible

Thank you for replying. That makes sense, but why do most sites categorize the possibility of contracting STD's orally at "easy"? Just doing the math would suggest that it isn't easy to contract it that way (the number of infections would go through the roof), however the information from a number of "credible" sites, suggests otherwise.

The thing with std,s like gono is that the bacteria are in the back of the throat so a deep throat oral is needed to pass it. Simple in and out oral would be more a risk for a UTI as bacteria common in the mouth are not common inside the urethra. Then we come to herpes. if the person does not have any lip sores, the risk is close to zero from a one time affair.
