Could I have an STI from years ago?

I had a risk of exposure about 8 years ago.
My last period was awful.
I'm currently in the process of finding out what's causing me to have IBS, but I'm getting alot of pain that feels like period cramps. Since I had a baby I have also been experiencing painful intercourse

Would it be possible to have chlamydia for 8 years and for it to only now cause problems? I'm now worrying that I have PID or something. Someone out my mind at ease before I can get and have a test

Really? So probably I'm just connecting dots that aren't there?
I was tested for HIV and syphilis when I was pregnant and I have since been for a smear aswell but I haven't been tested for chlamydia/gonnhorea as far as I am aware.
Your fears are unwarranted.
You don't need testing for gonorrhea or chlamydia: such infections do not linger for years.
Really? I never knew that. Thankyou!
