Does this sound like herpes

I recently had unprotected sex with a girl who has genital herpes. She hasn’t had an outbreak since her initial one over a year ago, and her doctor has assured her that it is nearly impossible for her to transmit when she is not having an outbreak. It has been 10 days and I have not experienced any lesions or symptoms except for a slight pain/irritation in the tip of my penis right next to/inside my urethra. This pain started yesterday as a twinge every once in a while and now is constant for 5-10 minutes and then disappears. Could this be a prodromal symptom? Also, I work at a pool so could the chlorine be preventing lesions from forming? Should I get tested soon and then wait to be retested at the three month mark or just wait until lesions show up or three months hit?
