Well a few days ago I woke up and noticed I had an open wound near the head of my man parts. Obviously seeing something like that is extremely alarming to say the least, but I just ascribed (basically hoped lol) it was from a particularly rough masturbation session. Then a day or 2 after the first sore, a second sore showed up. They seem to be covered in some kind of watery/slimey substance, along with a bit of crusty matter stuck to it as well. Then the day after that I had developed a red, slightly bumpy rash on one of my inner thighs in the groin area, which was about the size of a baseball and also felt raw, but not with white fluid coming out like the sores had.
At this point I went to the doctor, and I just about had a heart attack when he told me he thinks its syphilis...
I have not had sex, laid in bed with anyone, kissed anyone, or had any intimate/sexual relations of any kind with anyone in almost 10 years. Not by my choice, however. Unfortunately dating/girls/anything like that has never been my strong suit, and I still struggle with my shy and timid personality on a daily basis. I make due as best I can, but after years and years of repeatedly trying and failing to fill that void, I found myself resorting to man made pleasures more often. I liked heroin in particular, and was a daily user of heroin for several years.
I have shared syringes with friends in the past, maybe like 7 different times with 4 different people ever. No one ever wants to share a syringe with someone else. Its strictly done as a last resort, usually because the people working at the pharmacy refuse to sell syringes to you if you dont have a prescription or if they feel like the syringes might be used for drugs, even though (atleast in my state) insulin syringes are not scheduled or illegal and it is perfectly legal for a pharmacy to sell them to someone without a prescription, as long as they have ID to prove they are over age 18.
You see, the people running the pharmacies think that if they refuse to provide sterile syringes/cookers etc, that people will simply choose to just not get high. Needless to say, they are poorly mistaken on that concept. Any true addict will find a way to get high, and alot of times that means using his friends already used syringe because he was denied by the pharmacist for whatever reason when he tried to protect himself by buying some sterile syringes. Unfortunately society as a whole still has not recognized this, and as a result these horrible diseases continue to spread further and further and wreak havoc on a daily basis.
I hope one day people recognize this as the backward policy that it is. Granted, in the end it was my decision to use potentially dirty equipment, so in the end the blame lies with myself. But its hard for me to see any other way that I could have caught an STD given the fact that I have been 100% abstinent for 10 years now.
Moral of the story-do not think you will not get an STD if you are abstinent.
